Beethoven: The String Quartets (DG Collectors Edition)

This is simply one of the best renditions ever performed of the whole string quartets by the master from Bonn. This particular collection holds a special personal significance for me, but whatever your taste on classical, you can simply not go wrong with this version. Pure bliss.

The Amadeus Quartet at their height. No phrase is played without thought. Absolutely wonderful! Ignore the ramblings of audiofile reviewers; the recordings are fine but the music and performances will last you a lifetime. Buy it, buy it, buy it!!

Amadeus still the greatest, andante (4th mvt) of Op.131 is 14mins 17secs of heaven. Get this and use Lindsays version for coasters

Once of the best performances of the Quartets I have heard - worth every penny. Good price for the whole set too.

In my opinion this is the best interpretation of Beethoven's string quartets.

The recording and performances are great. However, although these discs will play on other CD players, they won't play on my Arcam CD-73 player. The CD-player has been examined by my local dealer, and both they and I have spoken to Arcam. The consensus is that these discs are not manufactured to the red book standard for CDs and that older CD players, like my Arcam, can struggle to play CDs that are not manufactured to this standard. Note that I am commenting on the CDs here, not the blu-ray.

Great rendition, best string quartet and best Beethoven interpretation.

Was man an Beethoven immer wieder kritisiert, dass er zum wuchtig oder zu plakativ sei, erfährt in seiner Kammermusik einen herben Gegensatz. Beethoven zeigt sich hier von einer ganz anderen Seite. Die Einfühlsamkeit und Klarheit seier Kompositionsweise vermittelt ein Bild der klaren Schönheit, Tiefsinnigkeit und Ausdrucksfreude. Wer mit Beethovens Sinfonik nicht klar kommt, sollte es mit seiner Kammermusik versuchen.

Un plauso alla Deutsche Grammophon.

L'iniziativa di pubblicare cofanetti di cd audio + bluray " Pure Audio " 24bit 192 khz di cicli storici è veramente opera meritevole e portarselo a casa ( anzi, farselo portare a casa da Amazon !! ) ad una cifra inferiore ai 30 euro è incredibile.

Nel caso dei quartetti di Beethoven nell'interpretazione del Quartetto Amadeus, sulle registrazioni degli anni 60' è stato fatto un lavoro di restauro dell'audio fantastico. Fruscii praticamente inesistenti e ripristino di dinamica e presenza stereo rimarchevoli.

Sull'interpretazione inutile spendere parole. Da notare la presenza tra i pezzi anche della Grande Fuga Op.133, stranamente non riportata nel listato dei brani di Amazon ...

This is an affordable reissue of the Amadeus Quartet's classic recordings of the complete Beethoven string quartets. The music is essential to any collection of chamber music, and the performances of the late quartets, perhaps the finest string quartets ever written, are beautifully done. The performance of the A minor Quartet (opus 132) is especially moving. The quality of the recording is quite good for a budget-priced reissue, and the interpretations of the music by the Amadeus Quartet are outstanding.

Je n'irai pas par quatre chemins: ce remastering 24bits/192 KHz est simplement miraculeux. Jamais, je n'avais entendu, en numérique, ce mythique enregistrement avec plus de naturel, de délié, de chaleur... Sans flatterie aucune, tout ici sonne juste, l'aération, la dynamique... C'est la musique qui y gagne formidablement. Mention spéciale pour la qualité éditoriale du coffret proposé avec reprise en trois coffrets des trois périodes de composition . Bémol, livraison sommaire d'Amazon dans une simple enveloppe souple en plastique. Coffret arrivé rayé! bof bof..
