I suggest the licenses get an update...

…I would like to suggest that there be an update for the licenses to include more specific language for featuring a remixed artist. Clearly we all understand we feature each other on streaming.
But our licenses don’t necessarily reflect that. So far only Landr is giving me a hassle for one song with Jaspertine (while allowing others to go through, weird) but it might be helpful to clarify whether featuring is attribution and whether featuring is allowed. UPDATE: After showing them the official CCmixter spotify and that all the artists were featured not buried in the credits, they let it go forward. But I’m pushier than most people, so… other people might not get through. |

coruscate,
I agree and disagree with you (i know, big help lol) The update you’re suggesting requires an entirely new license, since you can call a remix whatever you want as long as attribution is provided. Without knowing more about what you mentioned concerning Landr and jaspertine, I’d say that’s a Landr problem targeting you for some reason (maybe because you’re more popular?) and an overreach as far as the license terms go. I’m wary of involving Creative Commons in this, since it seems like their over the kind of stuff we’re doing (best example is what happened on YouTube :( ) Kindly, Apoxode |
