Foiled {NAME} Art

My friend Tristin just had their only girl so I made something
special & personalized to add to the baby room.
Start with a piece of scrap wood.
Draw their name(I used vinyl to make it easier)with pencil.
Trace over the penciled name with dimensional paint.
Let dry overnight.
Cover the entire board with a thick coat of Mod Podge.
Lay a piece of aluminum foil over the image and press around the "paint" using a q-tip(or your finger).
This helps to not tear the foil.
Keep going until its all done.

Fold the extra foil around the sides of the scrap wood to finish it off.

Hats for NICU Babies

When our 2nd daughter was born she had to be in the NICU area for 4 days. It was hard but I'm so thankful  they kept her safe and gave her an opportunity to heal so she could come home. Since this place has such a sweet spot in my heart I knew this would be a great service opportunity.
A couple of months ago we had an activity with our "Activity Day" Girls sewing these hats to give to the hospital. I spent $12.00 and cut out 85 hats. I was inspired to recycle a shirt (from the second hand store)from this cute idea.
For my pattern I bought these hats at Walmart to trace (then used them as a gift for a friend).
Turn the shirt inside out. Cut the hat from the sleeve or bottom finished edge. Stitch around the cut edge.
Done with the boy hat.
Girl hat.
For the girl hat flower: cut 6 circles (3@ 1 1/2", 3@ 1 3/4").
Layer them & tie a knot in the center.
Cut slits going around the circle. Be careful not to cut all the way through.
 Tie on a button.

Altered {Baby Wipes} Container

Another idea to add to a Baby Gift. . .
Personalized Baby Wipe Container.
BEFORE
AFTER

How To:
Cut the fabric to fit around the container.
I mod podged the fabric onto the container.
*tip: I had to cut slits in the back 2 corners due to the curve so it would fit.

I finished it off with a fabric flower and "ribbon".
If you know the baby's name it would be cute to put their name or letter on the top lid.

Baby Rattles

My cousin Aimee is having a baby girl so to her gift I added these homemade Baby Rattles. I found the idea here but they used batting . . .
I decided to recycle this vending machine plastic container and put a bell inside.Make sure the lid is tightly closed.
Stuff the container inside a baby sock(found at the dollar store in a 2 pack 18-24 months size).
You could also use this cat toy with the bell already in it.
Tie a ribbon around the neck and make sure the knot is tight so the ball/bell does escape. I left the ends of the ribbon long.
You could easily wash this toy with soap & water and then air dry it.

baby {TIME}

My friend Trina just had a baby boy-this was my gift. . .
I did gifts from different times of the day{Play Time, Any Time, Bath Time, Bed Time & a "Just for Mom" Time}

PLAY TIME

Cut 2 pieces of fabric(7"x7"). Pin 9 strips of ribbon (5" in length)folded in half. 3 on each side. Stitch 1/4" seam around the square. Leave an opening on one side.

Cut a ziplock bag to fit the dimensions of the fabric.

Layer all the pieces together to do the final stitching. On the bottom start with the fabric with the stitched on ribbon then the other piece of fabric(right sides together) then the ziplock bag.

Stitch 1/2" seam around the square. Leave the opening so you can turn it inside out.

Turn right sides out and stitch all the way around.

ANY TIME

Hats & Wipes

BATH TIME

I used a scrapbook die cut shape for my duck pattern.

Stitch the duck on with coordinating thread.

Pin 2 bath hand towels right sides together then stitch.

Turn inside out and stitch around the outer edge.

BED TIME
"Baby Sleeping" door sign(I hot glued felt onto the back so it wouldn't hurt the door)

JUST FOR MOM TIME
Hair Clip, Chocolate, & Calgon Bath Salts

Cherishing {Baby's First Year}

I was fliping thru my Paper Trends Magazine the other day and Maggie had a great idea to use a notebook to journal the first year of a baby's life. Since my friend, Tristin just had a cute baby boy I knew this would help her in writing down those precious moments.

1-I just covered the front & back with Scrapbook paper. And then added a simple tag.

2-Cover inside covers with paper also.

3-I punched some tabs from paper(Maggie used ribbon).

4-Then I stapled the tabs to the lined paper. (I counted 8 sheets for every month)

5-First Page. . .

6-I titled the first page for each month.

{Baby/Wedding} Gift Idea

I love having simple gift ideas for baby showers or wedding presents. Its always nice when you can personalize it. This gift idea is just that.

1-Cut a piece of beadboard (mine is 11 1/2x16). Then sand it(I love it was already painted, even if it really is just primer!). Drill holes at the top and then stain the wooden letter (I did dark walnut-LOVE this color).

FLOWER:(I saw this flower on a gift card)

1-Cut circles from scrapbook paper (mine ranged from 1 3/4" x 4 1/4" using the coluzzle cutter)

2-Sew a "+".

3-Sew another "+" in the other direction.

4- I just free handed cutting the petals, starting at the edge and going into the middle.

5-Finished flower.

6-I added this paper flower to my other fabric flower(posted on Saturday ) and tied it all together with buttons.

7-Glue wooden letter onto board and then glue flower onto letter. Finish it off with ribbon to hang.
