First of all, I wanted to thank everyone for the great feedback I received on my work and that of my fellow adventurers (LDX#40, Narcisound, and Fabs).

To answer @El Jefe, the two images represent different points of view in space and time. The fire in the foreground serves as a transition. I tried to create a transition effect like in old adventure films. Hence the intentional differences in lighting.

For the bushes in the right-hand image (the pyre with the castle), I used the same technique I used for the walls on "The Last Tomb," the technique of street graffiti artists (but virtually). I work in layers (stencils). Making realistic bushes isn't complicated. You start with the dark layer (which will be the shape of the bush) and work towards the light layers (leaves) using masks and random dots (MultiPaint allows you to do this). Then I refine my pixels on the final image. Note that I test the stencils before applying them and I keep them in my personal toolbox.

The image on the left (Princess) had been sitting in the files for quite some time (2 years) because I wasn't satisfied with the background (the ball-shaped trees) which I had lazily created. Furthermore, it didn't match the style of the image on the right, which was already finished. So I reused one of my bushes from the right image and inserted it into the left image behind the crosses and the guards (is that sacrilege?). For the insertion, I reused the shadow of the bush to manage the color clashes with the crosses, the guards, and the flames.

Therefore, these two images were produced at different times, hence the adjustments to the first one.

In conclusion, while those who produce nothing but gratuitous criticism and understand nothing about drawing techniques go off to drink and have fun, I, for my part, try to offer some nice things (even if they're not perfect) by attempting to tell a story while leaving an element of mystery to stimulate your imagination and fuel our C64 with quality production. To make this work, I observe, analyze, and draw inspiration from the work of artists in general, adapting it to the software I know and improving my techniques.

cool tune by Narcisound.

The composition of gfx elements to a complete picture does not work for me in here, as the styles are not matching and also because of the pixeling on the bushes and the figures in the dark which does not look good in my eyes. the difference in details between the princess and the rest of elements in the picture lets me think that there are self pixeled elements and converted elements in the picture.

I would appreciate some additional info about the creation of the complete pic!

Nice little production.
You have a very recognizable graphocs style, Ax!s.
Nice to see how you make that, too.
