The UN and UNRWA

Dry Bones Golden Oldie, by Sali the LSW. (Long Suffering Wife). Here is a Dry Bones cartoon from 2015.

Last week the UN voted to keep funding UNRWA for another 3 years, even though it has been proven that they were encouraging and helping Hamas. They have kept the about 700,000 Palestinians who were displaced in 1948 as permanent refugees even until the 3rd generation. Now UNRWA defines almost 6 million as permanent refugees, fueling violence and hardship. They have created 30,000 jobs for themselves by doing this. Now, they are angry that Israel is not allowing them an office in Jerusalem.

Looney Tunes

Kirschen, Dry Bones cartoon,Kirschen, UN,Israel, antisemitism, anti Israel, Human Rights, Syria, Iran, North Korea, media bias, bias,
According to Fox News:
"UN says Israel, not Iran, North Korea or Syria worst violator of human rights
By Anne Bayefsky
"What country deserves more condemnation for violating human rights than any other nation on earth? According to the U.N.’s top human rights body, that would be Israel.

Last week, Israel was the U.N.’s number one women’s rights violator. This week it is the U.N.’s all-round human rights villain. The U.N. Human Rights Council wrapped up its latest session in Geneva on Friday, March 27 by adopting four resolutions condemning Israel. That’s four times more than any of the other 192 UN member states.

Playing at caring about human rights is the U.N. game. And no state does it better than Iran. There were four resolutions on Israel. And one on North Korea -- a country that is home to government policies of torture, starvation, enslavement, rape, disappearances, and murder – to name just some of its crimes against humanity. Four resolutions on Israel. And one on Syria. Where the death toll of four years of war is 100,000 civilians, ten million people are displaced, and barrel bombs containing chemical agents like chlorine gas are back in action. Four resolutions on Israel. And one on Iran. Where there is no rule of law, no free elections, no freedom of speech, corruption is endemic, protestors are jailed and tortured, religious minorities are persecuted, and pedophilia is state-run. At last count, in 2012 Iranian courts ordered more than 30,000 girls ages 14 and under to be “married.”

And what did that one resolution on Iran say? Co-sponsored by the United States, it was labelled a “short procedural text,” consisting of just three operative paragraphs that contained not a single condemnation of Iran." -more

More Than Elections

Iraq, Afghanistan, and democracy : Dry Bones cartoon.
There are two fundamental mechanisms which any democratic system must have.

The first is a method that ensures "Majority Rule". Usually through the holding of fair elections.

The second is a mechanism which prevents the majority from using its power to violate the rights of the individual or of minorities.

Discussions of the current democratization process in Afghanistan and Iraq simply report on the number of votes cast. They tend to ignore the question of protection of the rights of individuals, minorities, or unpopular viewpoints. Missing the whole point of real democracy.

Obama's Filter

Obama's Filter : Dry Bones cartoon.
The digital world has opened up a flood of people to people communications. Blogs, which were cutting edge last week now seem almost staid and old-fashioned. And if there's a tsunami of info, how easy to delete stuff with a click of the mouse.

You'd think that Barack Obama, America's first "digital" President would have found a way to respond to the pitiful Internet calls for justice coming out of Iran ...other than hitting the delete key, that is.

Capital Punishment

Capital punishment for capital crimes :Dry Bones cartoon.
I decided to do today's cartoon after a "loyal reader" sent me a copy of "Capital punishment for capital crimes" by Caroline Glick. After discussing the horrifying crimes being perpetrated against us she notes that:
"ALL OF this raises the issue that polite Israeli society insists on sweeping under the rug: Israel's repeated willingness to release terrorists for live and dead hostages makes clear the need to implement the death penalty against terrorist murderers.

The criminal code permits the death penalty to be used in cases of treason, murder, crimes against humanity, genocide and crimes against the Jewish people. The problem is not the laws on the books; the problem is the state prosecution's refusal to use them. Regardless of the nature of their crimes, the State Attorney's Office refuses to request that judges sentence terrorists to death." -more

So are we too politically correct to protect ourselves? Is a twisted sense of morality keeping us from doing the right thing?

Your thoughts?

Palestinian Terrorists (1993)

Palestinian Terrorists (1993) Dry Bones cartoon.
Today's Golden Oldie is a Dry Bones cartoon that I did fifteen years ago this month. Back in July of 1993. The bag-headed terrorists are now in complete control of the "territories". All local Arab Palestinian opposition has been squashed and the bully-boys have won the sympathy and support of most of the world.

Interestingly, most folks have forgotten the campaign of extreme violence and terror which was needed to crush all Palestinian opposition to their religio-fascist rule.
