Rational or Irrational?

 Well, it seems that the war with Iran is starting up again. We don't yet know how long it will last or just how things will shape up. So far, there were 3 sirens in the center of the country today. Iran, then and now

 Wow! Here is a Dry Bones cartoon about Iran from back in 2006. Posted by Sali, the LSW.

It is amazing how things don't change much in the Middle East. We are waiting to see what the next few days and weeks will bring.

I had been teaching an art class to the spouses of the foreign diplomats that are here in Israel, but we had to temporarily suspend the classes as most of the spouses were sent back to their home countries by their governments for safety during the war. But now, most have returned and we are planning to start the class again next week.

But who knows what a week will bring these days? It is so strange that on a day by day basis, everything changes, but over the years, it seems that almost nothing changes.

Erev Lag B'Omer

 Erev Lag B'Omer is tomorrow, May 4th, Monday. Here is a Dry Bones Cartoon from 2016, posted by Sali.

This year, the celebrations have been very much toned down because of the war. It is forbidden to have but a very small number of people at Mt. Meron, the traditional site in the north, because of the security situation. Also, there is a danger of forest fires, and somehow, bonfires, and fires, in general, don't seem like such a good idea while we have been subjected to explosions from missiles and the war, But, in years past, the children had fun with it. I think maybe we are getting more mature and seeing the dangers. But I like the statement that this cartoon makes.

Shabbat Shalom and a new shaky ceasefire with Lebanon

 Shabbat Shalom! Israel now has a very shaky ceasefire with Lebanon. The Lebanese government has long been willing for better relations with Israel, but they are very weak and unable to control Hezbollah. So far, as I write this, we have had about 6 hours of quiet and no missile attacks from the north.  I hope that it will last. Yaakov had a saying once about these ceasefires. "we cease, and they fire". This has been true often in the past. Let's see. Hopefully the people in the north will have a quiet and peaceful Shabbat. They have been hammered with almost constant missile and drone attacks, even as we in the center, have had some rest and quiet for the last two weeks.
