Cramps Post Card

Postmarked May 19th, 1981. Mark Cheney was a professional punk rock photographer from the Delaware Valley, who produced these original postcards. Also a good guy who kept in touch. The reverse says, "....so the cat says to the sailor 'that's alot to swallow'" -Mark

A splendid photograph of Lux & Ivy.

CRAZY FISH POSTCARDS

These postcards have been printed in the 1950's, in my hometown Toulouse (France). From time to time i bought some in a thrift shop (un bazar) near my apartment, they have tons of them. You can find more kitschissime postcards scans from the 60s and 70s on my Flick'r "nostalgia" set.

Greetings From Phoenix

"The Most Modern Building in the Southwest, Adams at First "

"Looking North on Mill Ave, Tempe Arizona"

"... The cards this collection are souvenirs of a Phoenix from almost 60 years ago. You can just barely make out Hayden Mill in the postcard below depicting downtown postwar Tempe. It’s the white smudge clear at the end of the right side of the street. Followers of more recent history will find the view of the Central Avenue post office more interesting. It was at this location that longtime Phoenix celebrity Cris Kirkwood beat up a security guard, gaining in the process a prison sentence and bullet in his back."
Derrick, King of Bostworld, has a nice and colorful batch of old postcards from his hometown Phoenix up on his site.

Thinking of You

"Dearest Mother,
I was passing by the Asylum for Insane Indians, and naturally my thoughts drifted to you."

"You asked me to send a note to Grandma, so I thought a cute animal postcard would bring a little sunshine into her day."

"Next, I'm traveling south for a little sun, fun and vivisection in the Florida Keys at Johnny Brantner's world famous Feshin' Hole in Marathon. Ta ta for now, love to all,

Ange"

Postcards Show the Year 2000 (circa 1900)

'The Moving Pavement'
Why has this not been fully realized yet? It's 2007 and I still have to walk to the bus. It's an outrage!

"... an amazing collection of postcards from the dawn of the twentieth century that depict what life would be like in the year 2000 ..."

Having A Wonderful Time

Most postcards depict Chamber of Commerce-approved sights designed to entice potential travelers to exotic locales. Postkarten vom Franz provides fair warning of parts of the globe you may want to avoid. When Franz sends greetings, they’re from what appears to be a Turkish camel autopsy. Or a holiday panorama from a Dutch strip mall, where the sinister Sint Nicolaas and his leering henchman can only make Christmas nightmares come true.

Anyone up for a road trip?
