Yayo Lives!

It was pretty heartbreaking yesterday to discover that one of my favorite blogs by Yayo Salva had been removed. Yayo has been an incredible source for obscure and out-of-print pop music from around the world -- I can't imagine my current collection and playlists without him. Fortunately, a few of his blogs still remain: Voces del Folclore and Viejos Estilos.

Golden Age of Gas Stations

Now that every trip to a gas station in the US is as welcome as a root canal (quit laughing at us, Europe! QUIT IT!) it's comforting to let Pleasant Family Shopping take us back to the days we could burn fossil fuels relentlessly without a care in the world. That word "humble" in the picture, I'm going to have to look that up, I'm not sure what it means.

El Diabolik's World of Psychotronic Soundtracks

El Diabolik's World of Psychotronic Soundtracks is a film soundtrack and Library Music podcast. And, it is great! I just listened to their 5:th episode, the German Special. With artists like Manfred Hubler, Gert Wilden, Berry Lipman and James Last - a podcast must be a winner! And we also get to hear lesser known hits like this from Christer Bladin:

For the last four years PC has been posting around 200 Bollywood soundtrack rips along with 7 absolutely great volumes of personal favorites (get the last 7th volume one here) on the blog Music From The Third Floor. What an effort! And what a pleasure it has been to, that from time to time, visiting the blog and always find something new there.

This blog is run by a Norwegian duderino called Tidious Ted, whom a few years ago managed a couple brilliant retro and pin-up sites, and now is back in business.
