Japanese Type 94 TK Tankettes and Type 97 Te-Ke

These little tankettes can be brought as part of the HQ unit in Manchurian lists, and will go nicely with Hal's Type 89s.  They're so small!  Battlefront models.

I also painted up a single Type 97 Te-Ke tankette to go with a pair that I painted for Hal a few years ago.  This one is from Peter Pig.

Went with a similar style camouflage to the Type 89s

Japanese Type 89 I-Go Platoon

I painted a unit of Type 89 medium tanks for my friend Hal and used an early style paint scheme with ochre dividing lines.  These boxy tanks had quite a few parts, but went together with little effort.  I freehanded the camouflage and think it came out ok.  Models by Battlefront.

A Four-color pattern was used in the late 1930's and had been phased out by the beginning of the Pacific War.  Hal plans on using these for Manchurian battles.
I tried to freehand a regimental symbol I spotted online, think it came out ok.

Japanese Chi-Ha and Te-Ke Tanks

I finished up my very first commission project in time to make delivery to my friend Hal when I flew back to San Francisco last weekend.  Hal asked me to paint up these four tiny tanks in exchange for some Italian guns I took in trade.  See here for an in-progress report: http://flamesofnerd.blogspot.com/2015/11/6mmrpc-week-twenty-two-japanese-tanks.html

Once I got the camouflage down, they finished up pretty quickly, since they didn't have commanders or stowage.  I free-handed some regimental markings on the hull and turrets as well.

6MMRPC Week Twenty-Two: Japanese Tanks

My scatter-shot ways continue this week, as I was gently reminded that I forgot to paint up some tanks for my gaming compadre Hal.  In return for a battery of Italian 4.7cm guns I agreed to paint four Japanese tanks for him.  He gave me these ages ago but with the madness of life, they slipped my mind.  These are a pair of Type 97 Chi-Ha tanks and a pair of Type 97 Te-Ke tankettes, both from unknown manufacturers.  So far, I've only been able to put down an initial layer of dark yellow paint, but I hope to get these done as soon as possible.  These were beasts to clean up, mold lines all over flat surfaces and between rivets.

Maybe Command Decision?  They're all-metal and only the turrets were separate.

Battlefront Early War Sale

I'm a sucker for a good deal, especially on Flames of War stuff so I went ahead and grabbed a pile of new minis.  I'm not a huge fan of Early War and the local group won't even consider playing it until an American list comes out (maybe in a year or two?) but I couldn't pass on the sale.  I've wanted to build a Japanese force since they were announced but couldn't logically buy into it until now.  For just over $200 I bought every blister and box I might ever need for any list I'd want to run. This will be the first non-German army I own, mostly because it's too large an investment to own more than one, but luckily these troops will be usable in any future Japanese list as well.
