Introducing the Wolfs

Rune Priest Bjornsson had been tasked by Lord Ragnar himself with consolidating the Imperial hold on Vogen.

“Floki….Sigemund, are the men ready?” Sigfast knew they would be but in the battle barge’s war room protocols needed to be followed.
“The blood claws are chomping at the bit priest” announced Floki with a grin on his face, “they are ready to blood the new recruits”
“Intel shows it may not be as easy as we thought Lord Bjornsson” a call came from the banks of screens just outside the war room doors.
“Show me” Sigfast bellowed as he moved over to the holotable, the main city had the standard green hue with the populated areas showing up slightly white with the mass of the population, then as they looked areas started to show red area’s which grew in size. They knew of the Chaos Horde which had been left behind in hiding after the last war but this was new.
“What are we looking at?” Sigemund called, a serf came in with a data slate and handed it to the Wolf Guard………..” Tyranids!!!”
“Fleet wide access protocol” the Rune Priest said in a calm yet booming voice, “This is Sigfast Bjornsson, ready the assault craft, war is upon Vogen and we have been tasked by our Lord Blackmane to take it to the Chaos filth, now we have alien scum wanting to taste our wrath” they could hear his voice across the entire fleet as if he was stood next to each and every one of them “For Russ and The All Farther let them wish they had left this planet alone”

……..The Hunt was about to begin.

The Wolfs Return

Wow it's been a while since we/me/any of us posted properly on here but with the kick off of a new 40k campaign it seems to have sparked a resurgence in blogging.

As much as I normally always use my Crimson Fists for campaigns I've alsways had a love for the Space Wolfs so decided I'd get back to my small army (arond 2k when finished).

So here is my WIP....Rune Priest Sigfast Bjornsson

The basic model is coming from the standard Space Marine Librarian mainly becasue I think it's awesome.....with some little tweaks here and there I'm hoping to wolfy him up enough.

I've replaced the lower leg with a lower leg from a standard wolf leg as this has some runes already on it.
I've also been using the Space Wolf accessory kit for a change of head and a wolf totem for the head of the staff so far, I'll possibly be getting some aid from Big Papa (if he's up for it) for a few more fidely bits.

More pics to follow as he gets done.

p.s. if there are spelling mistakes........tough!!!

Hobby Round up Week 12

It may be 24 hours later than usual, but the wait will be worth it!

First this week are some more pictures of the Nurgle Chaos Warriors that Neil has been working on over the last few weeks. Seven models are now there or there abouts

Simon has been busy again, not only with his own stuff, but with some Chaos Marines for Next Door Matt.

Simon has continued work on his Space Wolves and now has some more Terminators that are ready for the table top.

Si loves to build the models that others hate, and even those that they don't!

He has been recently been building Chaos Space Marines for Next Door Matt, with a Lord, some foot sloggers and a Rhino (not pictured) now ready for some paint.

Hobby Round up Week 11

Happy Mothers day!

Not a great deal of hobby to report this week.

First up, Neil has continued to plough through some Avatars of War 'Nurgle Warriors'. Having built them last week, now they have a white undercoat and in some cases a myriad of different inks

Simon continues to beaver away on his Space Wolves. His Terminator squad now has a few more colours on them.

Finally for this week we have Frazer's efforts. He continues to plough through the large amount of Dark Elf Witches he owns, but inches ever closer to bringing them to a Wednesday game.

Frazer has also continued to work on some Lonewolf Terminators....

... and whilst hunting through the garage, unearthed some of his Chaos Marine collection that will be hitting eBay soon.

Hobby Round up Week 10

Welcome to another visual feast of hobby updates!

First up we have some Wolf Guard from Frazer. Many years ago, we created a squad of Space Wolves converted to look like members of the club. Back then we were all in power armour, but now after taking part in many battles, the most decorated of us are being immortalised in Tactical Dreadnought Armour.

First up are Si, Neil and Dave.

Next from Frazer's work in progress pile is some Dropzone Commander vehicles that he is painting for Dave. As you can see they are resplendent in an urban camo scheme

Simon is next and contrary to the photos he is not a hobby vampire, just appears to prefer taking photos in the dark!

First we have some more Space Wolves, this time for his personal force.

Simon is our resident Bob the Builder, helping out those of the club who are unable to or prefer not to build their own figures.

This week he has been helping out Next Door Matt by constructing his Forge Fiend. He has gone the who hog by magnetising the head and weapons.

Neil, with a bit more time on his hands at the moment, has been working on some Avatars of War Corrupters, which are lovely models but a beast to glue together.

He has done a test scheme on one of them, using a white undercoat and a selection of different inks. For the observant of you, no that isn't the original head, but in fact a Heresy miniatures Blight head.

Oh and he also drew a face on a sqush... say hello to Sidney...

Finally this week, Chris has finished his first 10 Martians from Mantic Game's Mars Attacks game. He will go back to some of the bases in the future and add some trash, with ideas of how to do discarded fizzy pop cans top of his agenda.

Frazer & Simon Dark Elf and Space Wolf Work in Progress

Si has been working on his Space Wolves over the last weeks and his painting is really coming along, unlike his photography.  The underwhelming picture disguises an other wise talented painter!

I have been giving some love to the less than lovely Dark Elf Witches.  I returned to them after nearly a year of being nearly finished.  When I examined them they were far from finished and not as good as I remembered.  So I have repainted some parts of them and have tried to get a good table standard for these dirty ladies.  With my New Year's resolution of only playing with fully painted figures they won't be making it to the table this week.

Hobby Round up week 8

Welcome to week 8 of our hobby round up, after a quiet few weeks, this update is full of new and completed projects.

First up this week is Chris who has been on a bit of a construction frenzy. Dave has invested in Dropzone Commander and passed his figures to Chris and Frazer to paint.

Chris has been given the Post-Human Republic, and below are the content of the starter army box, all built and magnetised ready for spraying.

After building 80 plastic Night Goblins, Chris has been constructing the rest of this greenskins, with some Clubbers and Netters and a bakers dozen of Spider Riders

And finally, with Chris and Elliot's inaugural game of Malifaux scheduled for this Wednesday, Chris has constructed his crew of Ten Thunders.

Next up is Frazer; he has been also working on multiple projects. Fist up are some WW2 tanks for Dave, who is representing New Zealand in the coming months.
The tank on the left has been stripped with Biostrip before being painted to match the one on the right. Just the decals to do.

Frazer has also returned to his Dark Elves, here are a small percentage of his collection of Witch Elves. With another Bolt Thrower won on eBay, will we be seeing these guys back in the hut soon?

Next up is Simon who has been working on two different Space Marine chapters. Firstly some Space Wolf Long Fangs.

And some Crimson Fist close combat Terminators.

Simon is another member of the club doing work for Dave, this time is some SMG wielding Brits, a mortar spotter and forward observer.

Finally, a cryptic offering from Neil, what will sit on this base is a mystery, with nothing to scale it against it could be anything. Put your guesses in the comments and we'll see who is closest next week.

Hobby Updates

Another week, some more hobby progress from the Lone Wolves. With all of us working on our £5 challenge models, its another quiet week but lets see what's been going on...

First up is Frazer, who has continued his work on Dave's In Her Majesties Name figures. If you look closely you can see his £5 challenge model in the background.

Simon has been busy on his Space Wolf Long Fangs, whilst building some WW2 British for Frazer, and some carts to use in our Dead Mans Hand campaign.

Chris has been busy finishing his £5 challenge model, to be revealed on Tuesday, but with a large package turning up in the post on Friday he now has a few more models to play with.

Most of the club have invested in various Kickstarter projects, the Mars Attacks project will keep Chris busy for a while. Pictured are all the models received; the giant robot isn't built yet, but you can get an idea of the size, and what you cant see is the flat bed truck and the mountain of ruined city scenery.

Wednesday War - Dead Man's Hand - 40K

This week games played were Warhammer 40K, two pick up games, and the final game for the first round of the Dead Man's Hand Legend campaign.

Fill your hand you son of a bitch!

Matt and Frazer played 'There will be blood' in scene one the two protagonists resolve their disagreement by using the player cards as in blackjack.  Scenes two and three include all the gang members and the end of each scene resolves injuries and replacement gang members.

The town is quiet, too quiet.

The crooked Sheriff John Stockburn and his two equally crooked deputies head into the saloon

Deputy Granger and Stockman Nathanial Reed disagree over a game of poker and take it to the street.

The gangs assemble and as on of the Deputies lines up a shot on Big Mac and his regulators Trixie steps from the shadows and fires her derringer at close range.  Always pay the whores what they are owed...!

Trixie's unmodified role - The upstanding (?) citizen card

It's scene three and Big Mac and his regulators have increased their gang by one and quickly gain the upper hand over Sheriff Stockburn and his men

Rufus Buck ends the final scene with both barrels of his shot gun and justice has been served.

A very one sided game where Frazer could do no wrong when it came to dice rolling.  The cards never really helped Matt and at the end of the first campaign turn the Lawmen were burying one man and had a few injuries to show for their trouble.  Frazer's cowboys didn't even get shot at in the final scene and their rep soared to 19 as the gang recruited and purchased guns and horses.

Sector 9 Raiders inbound

This week saw the return of the Dark Eldar as they continue their raiding along the fringe of the Ultima Segmentum.

Six objectives were scattered around the debris, with some being worth more than others.

All quiet in sector 9

Under direction of the Librarian Maxim

Both sides tentatively used their respective flanks to scout the field of battle, both wary of committing to the biggest scoring objective in the centre of a patch of open ground.

The two squads of Venom mounted incubi were interrupted by a drop pod  full of death company, but their fears were unfounded as after two rounds of combat, all the death company were dead, for the loss of one dark Eldar..

Sitting pretty, they were soon in trouble as a pincer attack from the incubi and Wracks wiped them out.

Naked weirdo's waiting for the next hover bus.  All the red men have left

The dark Eldar jet bikes went for the right flank but were met in force by the librarian and assault marines that had previously been taking shelter in the sand bagged region, and were wiped out.

With time running out (turn 5) the blood angels went for the major objective, taking out the Ravager as they went.

The final jet bike is crushed.

Too little too late the Blood Angels head of to find close combat.

With only the terminators left to grab any objectives, it was all over, as the dark Eldar swarmed all around mopping up their enemies.

Ere we go, Ere we go, Ere we go!

This week Neil and Si smashed heads as Orks and Space Wolves met head on in the inevitable short edge game.

Battlefield ready

Si check his adding up.  Always prepared!!

The Orks spill forth shoulder to shoulder.

Lone Wolf Si shows the greenskins a clean pair of boots before he and his retinue are overwhelmed by numbers
More boyz on the way

The terminators get stuck in and do well in the first round of combat but the second round sees 56 dice for the orks v 9 for the wolves.  Everyone knows how this will end and it does

Everything is piled forward on both sides

Despite some significant losses and a good number of objectives held the Space Wolves casualties mount and the ork objective total creeps up

Whilst the battle still has some legs it's clear that the Orks have won.  The VP's are in their favour and so is the number of units still in action

Back to the drawing board for the Space Wolves.  40K - It's your own fault...
