My painting subjects remain uniformly chaotic so today will feature the Prime Mover for an Airport Baggage Handler Vehicle.
This printed as six parts: Hull, undercarriage, and wheels (x4). probably about three hours of print time total but I've been really sloppy about tracking that... improvements for the future!
Size wise... it looks like its a tiny bit on the large side but its a print so that is scale-able if it really bugs me... I can always describe this larger one as an ammo load mover or something similar.
I experimented with some "Chipping Fluid" for the first time and its pretty interesting stuff. Basically you prime, or paint, the model then paint on chipping fluid were you would like the chipped effect then, when dry, paint the top color(s) let dry then re-moisten and tap or scratch at the areas you want to chip off to show the underlying paint. It'll take some practice but seems like a pretty effective technique.
Left is the underlayer. I did much more than the areas to be chipped so I could practice making effective rust textures to reveal... I may print another one to do as a burnt out hulk since I kinda like how the base layer turned out.
Models included for scale are Anvil Industries Traveling Salesman (This is a guess really I've fogotten where I got him and can't seem to locate it on the net), GW's Canoness Veridyan, Heresy Girls Sniper (Black Pheonix), Twsited's Tink, and Varaseesh the Venomous from Raging Heroes.
The Skiff is pretty substantial with four gun ports... that is a sturdy skiff! I still have the fittings to paint but I'll wait for that until I get some dowels for the masts... yar! a two masted skiff! Sturdy indeed! I'll want to make the rigging break down-able for transport and storage so that'll be interesting.
Due to the limited print area of my Snapmaker this is printed in three sections with magnets to keep it together during play.
I'm really interested to print the larger ships from this project (Rampage Lost Islands Kickstarter) but am waiting for the Snapmaker's new print area expansion (Z-Axis Expansion Module) to become available before heading down that rabbit hole!
I'm also making progress on getting the place ready for our next relocation and should have another update on the Tabletop World Fisherman's House soon. Also on the desk Raging Heroes Executrix Command, The Order of Vampire Hunters Kickstarter exclusives, Tabletop World Wizard's Tower, Kingdom Death, Twisted, and more...
Back to the desk!

Skaven, Warcasters, Stormblades, and Vash the Stampede?
The finished, retouched, Skaven Globadiers.
Its the first go at the Agrellan Earth on bases and I have some learning to do... more thicker paint! It's a hard habit to acquire!
One poor guy is missing his air tank... I have some steam power backpacks from max mini someplace that I'll swap in.... once I locate them that is! They are not in their assigned location!
The glowing green poison daggers are inspired by the Mordheim Video Game art... love the ratties!
They were looking just a bit too green so they got gaseous blue lenses and warp tokens just to pop a bit.
For salvage these came out ok... perfectly usable on the table top. There is a small pile of left over rats like these coming through the table as well as some Reaper Ratmen that are very Skaven-esque.
Now there is a reason why this Cygnar Warcaster is painted in heretical colors instead of the traditional blue and cream... but we'll get to that a bit later!
I think this is Captain Victoria Haley and I'll keep the moniker as I press her into service as an agent of the Inquisition. She'll lead the personal retinue of the Inquisitor that is responsible for confirming compliance of a recently rediscovered/ recontacted Inquisition element that had been isolated by a warp storm for a very long time.
Red and White are good Inquisition colors, although my most recent foray into that realm has a grey and red scheme... no worries though Captain Haley's small team represents a visiting inspection and not part of the regular unit.
Accompanying Captain Haley are these Stormblade infantry storm knights. Her personal, hand picked, retinue.
The real reason for the color scheme! I saw this Warcaster, who I think is Coleman Stryker, I don't actually play War Machine so its all a bit awkward.
Anyway!
I saw this guy and thought... WoW... Privateer Press made a Vash the Stampede Miniature!?!
I gotta play that game!
Turns out I was way wrong... but still... Meet Inquisitor Inspector General Vash the Stampede.
These are a bit on the steampunk side of the Grimdark but I think they'll do.
Off to paint more, and make up more story line....
Cheers

Scibor Retinue Stunties and Mr Bones poses for Objective Markers
Scibor has these great atmospheric Stunties (aka as Squats... shhhh) to help carry your cool war gear or your Xenophobic Message of the Day.
I went a little crazy when I saw them and got the whole assortment... or at least all of it that I am aware of and put them to the brush.
Initially I had thought to use them as Watchers in the Dark and painted all the bases in Dark Angel colors for use in the ruins on The Rock but figures themselves don't really have that spooky vibe so.....
I did a set of them as Inquisition retinue. Maybe a little odd using abhumans for that but some of them are obviously servitors, or at least well on their way, and it a perfectly acceptable hypocrisy to press them into Ecclesiarchy service.
The castings are relatively clean although there is some ambiguity in the harder to reach places, primarily the undersides of things but the resin has a good feel to it and I'm generally pleased with the product. The sculpting is very cartoon like, which suits my painting style well.
Now to find a suitably thematic Inquisitor for them to escort!
The Heresy Suppression Force slowly fills out as a largely non-GW accessory. The Sisters of Battle will be GW since I have a pile of them lying around but I'm thinking of spinning them up as a solo army and making the HSF a separate project entirely. The HSF will be Raging Heroes. I'd like to do wheeled, medium weight vehicles for them instead of a tracked heavy build to fit with the urban based, anti insurgent theme.
" Hear Ye!, Hear Ye! Today we HATE the Alien!"
To be fair they hated the Alien yesterday as well. They probably hate you too! Lots of hate in the Imperium!
Here are a couple of armorer serfs for a Black Templar that I know... just a tad heretical!
"Hey Dracamir! You gonna need your Boarding Party Gear today?"
No retinue is complete without someone to carry your gun and a keg of your favorite beverage!
The keg can do double duty with my Dark Angels...
These guys could also make good objective markers themselves now that I think about it. They serve no game purpose, other than possibly to represent wargear, and would look cool in that role.
Mr Bones!
He's cute and spooky in a Scooby Doo kinda way. I thought I'd make use of him as a generic, color coded, objective marker set. The shovel just screams ... "Ok dig here!"
I failed when doing cleanup on these guys and the retain a lot of mold lines. I might have to go back and do something about the most egregious of them.... the fingers! I'll probably just paint them as rings and call it a day. These are Tabletop quality after all!

No one expects.... The Inquisitor's Retinue!
So there I was digging through a box looking for some bit or other when I came across this assortment of Inquisitor's Retinue that I picked up from my good friend Pat a few years back and didn't manage to paint before packing up the house 2 moves ago! Since I'm actually in a mood to paint some fringe Imperials it was a timely find!
I based these in the same scheme as I'll be using on the Raging Heroes IG project using Trenchworks bases from Secret Weapon Miniatures.
The Cherub was fun... if only because I got to scribble some cryptic messages on its proclamation.
I'll need a lot more practice to do fancy Illuminations in this scale but this proclamation captures the feel of the Imperial Cult as a movement of the working masses of Imperial Citizenry.
For the Preacher I wanted to mix fanaticism with the last vestiges of a fading glory. To get the feel of a man who has joined the crusade because he has nothing left of his former high station except the clothes on his back and the weighty tomes of the Emperor's Wisdom that he carries with him always.
The full set of minis that I found on this pass through the boxes.
The Lexigrapher follows the Preacher and, aided by the pair of Servoskulls, records every word. The Gun Servitor that protects him rounds out the group. I picture the retinue as followers of the Preacher rather than of the Inquisitor so its actually thematic to show them without the Inquisitor that they would typically be seen to escort.
These were worked up from black with three stages of bone white and highlight then washed with Secret Weapon Washes and painted where this treatment was too muddled. This ended up generating a lot of the shadow effects and highlights were often achieved by glazing the surfaces to be highlighted with a lighter tone (like a yellow) and then thinly re-glazed with the original base wash color.
A bit of attention was paid to the wires. They are all color coded either on the cable itself or on the terminal plug. There is nothing worse than a pile of unmarked cable!
The retinue are the wandering remnants of a destroyed congregation and, as such, are scavengers by nature. They not only carry their personal fortunes on their backs but their other equipment is also of mixed provenance due to the random nature of its acquisition during their long travels. The Gun servitor sports a Multi Melta in an Astartes color scheme and might be a bone of contention in an encounter with Space Marines of any flavor.
I love Servo Skulls! They are iconic of the poor man's way to continue service to the Emperor after the body... and even the mind... fails. These scout and guard always recording the retinues efforts in the name of the Emperor!
Back to the table now... more projects are waiting...
