| A cartridge expressly dedicated to Commodore 16 and Commodore 116 models, to outflank the 16kB RAM limitation, and take advantage of the 32kB ROM to run the 3-plus-1 suite on C16 and C116.
Manufactured and distributed by Uwe Peters, the unity represented in the photo reports a product number 1409 (english) and 1410 (german), and a label with the indicative price of 69,00 DM.
Both the English and the German module ROM contents are essentially identical to the original 3-PLUS-1 program found in the Plus/4. The only differences are in the unused area (ROM HI: $3D20–$3F409) and in the ROM LO identifier ($0006–$0007).
A characteristic feature of 3-PLUS-1 is that it identifies the ROM bank and modifies the startup accordingly. When placed in the internal ROM bank, it can be started with the F1 key; when placed on an external cartridge, it can be started with the F2 key. Accordingly, the memory address used by the startup SYS command also changes: F1 – SYS 1525, F2 – SYS 1578.
If 3-PLUS-1 is present simultaneously in both the internal ROM bank and on the cartridge, both instances can be started and used fully, even in two different languages.
