William Gheen in Chatham County on Tuesday Night

I urge anyone near Chatham County who can attend this meeting to do so...

Hat Tip: Ron Woodard of NC Listen

PRESS RELEASE

Attention all North Carolina ALIPACers!

ALIPAC's President, William Gheen is going into Chatham County on Tuesday night for an important meeting.

We need as many of you as possible to join us to learn more and show your support.

As you may have heard, Chatham County's Commission has voted to prohibit their law enforcement agencies from working closely with Immigration and Customs to deport illegal aliens arrested for other crimes.

This will make Chatham County our state's lone "Sanctuary County" and at a time when we have made a lot of progress getting many other counties into the 287(g) program.

The 287(g) program saves lives and the decision in Chatham will cost lives, if we do not act swiftly.

Concerned citizens are gathering on the ground in Chatham county and they need our attendance and support. Here are the event details, please spread the word and join us if at all possible.

Time/Date: Tuesday, January 27, 7pm EST.

Location:
Virlie's Grill - Pittsboro, NC 27312
58 Hillsboro St

All concerned citizens and elected officials should join us.

Guest Speaker: William Gheen, President of the national organization ALIPAC (Americans for Legal Immigration Political Action Committee)
www.alipac.us

Topics: How to reverse Chatham County's refusal to work with federal immigration agencies and save lives by implementing the 287(g) program like most other counties in NC are doing.

ICE fugitive operations teams nab 104 illegal aliens in NC, SC & GA

CHARLOTTE, NC - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced today that a five-day targeted fugitive operation that culminated Friday in the Carolinas and Georgia netted 104 fugitive aliens and immigration violators.

Among those arrested were 94 fugitives who ignored lawful orders of removal and went into hiding and 10 other immigration violators. Of the 104 arrested, 23 had prior criminal convictions for crimes including drug possession, stolen goods possession and indecent liberties with a child.

"We will continue conducting these targeted fugitive operations to arrest and deport those in violation of U.S. immigration law," said Felicia Skinner, acting field office director for the ICE Office of Detention and Removal in Atlanta. "Our message is clear: avoid arrest by complying with the law."

Join Immigration Enforcement Groups for Historic Rally in Raleigh on June 18
Live Coverage

A diverse group of concerned citizens who represent the 80% of North Carolinians, which want the NC Legislature to take action to curtail illegal immigration in 2008, will gather for a rally and citizens lobby day in Raleigh on June 18, 2008

The rally will be from 11am-1pm on the Bicentennial Mall, which is across Jones St. from the main entrance of the NC Legislature. Supporters are also encouraged to join us, on the 1st floor inside the legislative building from 8am-5pm, to distribute materials and lobby NC lawmakers against HB 2717 that would allow illegal aliens in NC Colleges, while supporting measures to protect American jobs, tax resources, and lives threatened by illegal immigration.

These events will be at the NC Legislature at 16 West Jones St., Raleigh, NC

You can listen to coverage of the Rally at Blog Talk Radio, or by pressing the play button on the radio player below at 11am (A microphone icon will appear and flash when the show is live).

**update** 12.06pm The Live Coverage portion is over. The podcast will be up shortly. They have forgotten to signout of the dashboard, so the show is still in progress despite no audio.

You can also join the chat room if Troy opens it during the show. He may not, since he will have his hands full keeping up with events.

ALIPAC Open Letter to Paul & Romney Campaigns

The following is from ALIPAC, and you can track the discussion thread
on their message board:

Paul & Romney campaigns:

While the verdict is still out if the GOP Presidential primaries can yield a candidate who is truly opposed to Amnesty for the first time in 30 years, GOP voters are looking at your campaigns closely.

Our organization has widely reported the pro amnesty stances of McCain, Giuliani, and Mike Huckabee along with every Democrat in the race.

With the withdrawal of Fred Thompson, Duncan Hunter, and Tom Tancredo from the race, our NO AMNESTY list is down to your two campaigns.

Your campaigns have a real opportunity to consolidate support from Republicans who want Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement. The prior supporters of these campaigns, along with the large section of undecided or soft support voters should begin coalescing around the anti-amnesty candidate with immigration enforcement plans.

The Ron Paul campaign is actively working with some of the grass roots organizations in the immigration enforcement movement and recently received the endorsement of about 20 groups and activists in the South West United States.

The Mitt Romney campaign has received high level endorsements from Congressmen Tancredo, King, and Roharbacher along with Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

As GOP voters, activists, and organizations, struggle to decide who they will vote for and send contributions to, we have three questions for each of your campaigns.

Questions

1. Will your campaign respond to Senator Jeff Sessions's candidate survey, which is designed to give voters greater insight to your campaigns true stances on immigration enforcement Vs. Amnesty for illegal aliens?

2. Will your campaign sign NumbersUSA's "No Amnesty Pledge" which pro amnesty candidate Mike Huckabee has signed to try and cover his true touchback amnesty intentions?

3. What efforts will your campaign make, if any, to reach out to, and secure support from, the hundreds of immigration enforcement groups and activists that have formed across the country to address America's illegal immigration crisis?

These three factors are the top things we will be looking at in relation to your campaigns during these last days before Super Tuesday.

We anxiously await your response to these questions and possible action on the items detailed within this letter.

Kind Regards,

William Gheen

I attended the Rally to Stop Illegal Immigration held at Ferguson Auditorium from 2 to 5pm Saturday afternoon on the campus of AB-Tech by The Action Club of the Buncombe County Republican Party.

Bill Fishburne was the Master of Ceremonies and provider of factoids between speakers. He opened the meeting in Spanish.

The Reverend Dr. J. Wendell Runion, of WKJV Radio, led the Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, and the singing of the Star Spangled Banner.

Dr. Kathie Lack, President of The Action Club, welcomed everyone for their attendance on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. (There were at least 100 in attendance).

Video 01 --Opening Ceremonies

Kathy Rhodarmer, Vice-President of The Action Club, showed the famous gumball video 'Immigration By The Numbers," by Roy Beck, of NumbersUSA.

Andrew Dunn, of The Eagle Forum and Action Club, spoke to Illegal Immigration, including a quote of President Teddy Roosevelt on the importance of assimilation of new immigrants. He also addressed the importance of calling your local elected officials and voicing opposition to Amnesty for Illegal Aliens.

I will end part one with a link to local coverage, which will become more important when you see the video of William Gheen of ALIPAC.

AC-T Coverage

The Asheville Daily Planet had reporters in attendance, but their report is not online yet, and WLOS had a camera there, but I do not know if they aired any footage. If they sent a reporter, he/she/it kept a very low profile, and they left early in the event, before the keynote speakers spoke.

**Note**
As per William Gheen of ALIPAC's request, please call Senator Richard Burr's DC Office [202-224-3154] and ask that he meet with William Gheen, and remind him that you are watching for his vote to oppose the Motion for Cloture, and to vote No on the Comprehensive Immigration Bill. 2010 is not that far away, and his vote will give us an indication to start looking for a replacement.
