Shield Bash Rule & Other Stuff

A tweak on something Al posted.

I didn't like the extra attack, but figured treating it like I do two-weapon fighting might work.

A shield (not a buckler) will provide an AC bonus of +2. Furthermore, a Fighter may state he is foregoing his shield bonus to AC for the round and attempt a Shield Bash. His attack(s) for that round will be at +2 to hit. If a hit is scored, then the effective strike was made with the Shield on a roll of 1-2 on a d6 and will do 1d4 points of damage.

On other notes, I'm not concerned with Nihilism, think the DCC has promise but looks too deadly, even at levels beyond 0, to make it my go-to D&D (love the art) and a hearty Congratulations to Pat of Henchman Abuse for releasing
ASE1: Anomalous Subsurface Environment!

  1. Hey James, good to see a post from you! Hope all is well. I like your shield bash solution, since I agree that extra attacks are not the way to go (I too prefer the attack bonus).

  2. Hey James, good to see ya posting. I relly like what ya did here, and as I'm looking at tweaking character classes for my Homebrewed game, this looks like something I can add to my Fighter class. Very kewl.

  4. I like your shield bash rule myself. But getting whacked with a shield is pretty good way to find yourself lying on the deck. I reckon I'll adopt your rule but add in a strength check, with a bonus to the shield-basher. The guy who fails by more than 5 ends up on the ground.

Edit after seeing security question: Hmmm. The ant-bot text I got for this post was "ashat"! Guess blogger doesn't like my idea
