Great app but I have noticed a glitch no one is talking about.

I’ve used the messenger app for what seems like forever, I’ve had no issues with it other than the sound on calls being quiet which I know is not the fault of my phone, other than that everything is great. The one glitch I’ve noticed and have asked other iPhone users about and they have confirmed it’s happening to them as well, is that sometimes notifications that come through (not the red circle by the app) and do not go away, for example I received a message about a week ago and it kept the notification in my notification wall even though I had pressed it and viewed the message, I deleted the notification by swiping it across and selecting delete but it came back within 24hours. It’s not really a big problem but it often does this with a few messages and they keep coming back, it’s a little frustrating and I often find myself thinking that I’ve missed messages from friends.

Where do I start. You cant get rid of this app once you get it. Deleting it means it then shows up in your Facebook app and you get messenger notifications there (swipe left and suddenly the messenger app is here if you delete the separate messenger app).The notifications still come through too…..it’s like an invasive species.You have zero control over stopping using the messaging app. You have no control over stopping people adding you to group chats - and even then if you mute the chat it doesn’t stay muted, and mentions still ensure you get notified. This is a great app for people who want to know they can invade other’s privacy- not so good if you want to be able to “switch off” cause by the way you cant, not even by deleting the app. Group chats cant be restricted so your work chat, that you might not even have wanted to be in but your boss can add you to anyway- cause you don’t have a choice, will be pinging all through holidays, evenings etc with no way for you to stop it. Only option is to delete both Facebook apps which sounds like an idea option due to them not giving any control to the user over when and how messages can be received, and if you want to be added to group chats chats. Options like what WhatsApp have would be ideal. Until then avoid unless you want to be continuously notified!

It’s a shame updates have taken a load of things away over the years, most of them were easy to adjust to, but some of the recent ones have been awful decisions. Everybody I know thinks the same too 😂 It was SO much easier when we could look back through photos and vids on each person, my friends and I send photos to each other to look back on for memories but now we can’t do that, hundreds of memories just completely lost, meaning we have to find them and send them again. Messenger was the way we could save each other’s photos throughout trips etc and now we’re having to use other messaging apps rather than messenger. You can’t change names for contacts anymore on messenger either. Among maaaaaaany other bad updates, it’s like messenger is going backwards rather than forwards. I understand they’re trying to make data smaller, but some of these decisions, I can’t even explain, I can’t imagine someone stupid enough to think these updates were good ideas. I’m not trying to offend, but surely there are marketing teams and teams there to make decisions that benefit consumers? Just small things make a huge difference. Over the years with Facebook and messenger, it’s like taking a step forward and then 5 steps back, I thought we were meant to be moving with times, keeping up with trends etc. There are new generations, new people, new users joining every day but it just keeps going backwards instead of using facilities to benefit customers. Pleeeeeease sort it out 😭 bring back media/photo/video search through chats, bring back changing names, bring back things that benefit people! Thank you for everything else you do though 😅 I know it can be difficult and you’re always dedicated to fixing bugs which is appreciated massively.
Not as good as it used to be

The last few recent updates have made this app trickier to use sometimes it won’t load attachments, voice notes, show pics that have been sent, if I search a chat it won’t load that part of the chat, when I try scrolling up it won’t go passed one or two days max, when I check on pinned messages it won’t show all of them, I’ve reinstalled the app 4-5 times to fix it it works for 5 minutes maybe and then go back to not working again, I’ve cleared the cache multiple times using the advice on AI Chat to help me fix the problems but it’s not doing it, also when sending photos I hate the new way where you send or receive multiple and you have to go each one just to get to one you want to look at, same with looking at chat media having to scroll down it makes it longer to do, it’s making it difficult to use an app that used to be easy and fun, it’s clearly the app that’s having a problem and only the small bugs are being prioritised and not the big issues like I have which is unfair PLEASE FIX THESE PROBLEMS, there are people I Speak to on this apps only and it makes it harder to communicate with these problems
