Haven't read it yet (just downloaded it) but I just wanted to praise you for actually having the discipline to finish it. Good luck with your next work too (I see you've already started development and it looks great). Having a track record of actually finished games does you good -- normally I'd see a 0.2 game and write it off instantly since they never get finished but when an author has proven they're able to do it (like you or Caribdis) then it's something I can actually look forward to.
Hehe, thanks for the praise! And yeah, I know a lot of creators lose motivation along the way and end up abandoning their projects, but I really enjoy bringing these stories and their characters to life, and that's what keeps me going. :)

I hope this can be optimized in the next work. Furthermore, the game's guidance is poorly done, as there is no indication of the consequences corresponding to certain choices.Most importantly, there is no dedicated section to display key events and game ending images—you have to replay the entire game to see them again. You know what I love about this game that very very few other games have?? Different nipple types and different sized/textured areolas. SOOOO many games dont even bother with what I feel is a paramount detail in tiddy variety. <3
HS2, same as for my new project (Inanna Revenge), except that when I started AlwaysFan, my setup couldn’t handle graphic mods, so I was using DHH instead, which results in a lower visual quality. All software used is listed on the game's "about" screen.
I came across this game by pure coincidence and played it without any expectation and BOOM! Why did i never heard of this game before?! Why does nobody ever recommended me this! Easily one of the best AVN i have ever played with so many choices,route and ending. If you make a different choices and route it feels like youre playing a completely different games! Can you really lose on time? I mean, I've managed to find all the evidence and I've never had a time problem. Plus, I think it only takes 10/30 to leave the office, so unless you're a 6-year-old (which means you're not allowed to play this kind of game) I don't see how it's possible to lose on time. Not doing 100% okay, but losing?!
so i did as the game told me to and moved the game folder to data and this games folder but when i open the game this appears can someone help me please
Um, that's strange. If this screen appears, it means that you have indeed placed archive.rpa in the right place but the game is unable to retrieve the images. Have you tried waiting a minute and then restarting the game? Sometimes it takes a little while for Android to 'notice' the new files. If not, it is possible (rare but not impossible) that the file was corrupted during the copy or download. In the first case, you can try deleting it and copying it again, or re-downloading a new copy.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong but every time I download the Android version and extract the file for the apk only has 75 mb am I doing something wrong?
Yes, the apk is 75 MB, but there is also a game folder containing the game data that needs to be placed in the correct location. This is explained on the game download page and when you launch the game. A step-by-step guide is available in the archive (pdf file) or here.
Day 8 of asking help or hints to the mission of finding evidence in Marcus's computer. Can anyone help me, please? I'm stuck in there for almost 3 weeks
How can you be stuck on this for weeks? Just check the cameras, display the hidden files in the file explorer and look at them, and type the names of the important characters in the email search bar (Emilie, Robert, Lea, the name of the cop and the lab I can't remember but who appears in the clues at the top right) and read them. With all that you'll have more than enough to shut down the computer and continue. You don't need 100% of the evidence to finish this, just 10 clues out of 30 are needed if I remember correctly.
Btw, all of this is explained in the dialogue just before.
No problem, man, but here's some advice for life: persevere before relying on others. Simply reading the clues in the top right corner and typing in the names listed there allowed me to find half of the emails, and the names contained in them + those of the important characters in the story allowed me to find the rest. Asking for help on a forum takes almost longer than doing the research yourself ^^.
??? There's literally only one mini-game in several hours of gameplay and it's very easy to pass through as long as you read what's on the screen. So either you're talking about the wrong game or you're completely drunk.

Since you're planning a new patch to this game soon, I wanted to mention that Mount Everest is NOT the tallest mountain on earth (it's #3 after 2 Hawaiian mountains), so in the quiz show I recommend you change the questions wording to ask "highest" instead of "tallest" (in the english translation).
If you ever decide to come and expand AF, it may be interesting to be able to push Nicolas into a relationship/donor with amanda as was teased at the birthday party. That'd let amanda act as a mom for emily without it being weird with the mc. Perhaps this might open an honest path to Megan without Nicolas leaving, but the timing of existing and new events in that would be tricky.

Alwaysfan is one of the best games I have ever played. But it's sad the android version is not updated. It would have been much better if it's was updated. Btw, Great work with the new game.

I just finished AlwaysFan. I have to say that I was very happy with this project. I wasn't sure I was going to like it. But I'm glad I found this one. I followed the harem path as much as I could I think. I might have done a couple choices wrong, but overall I think I made mostly the right ones. This was a very good story. Aside from some grammar mistakes, I don't have a bad thing to say. If I had one criticism to make overall, I'd say that maybe the shading for Emilie was too bright. I know she is an albino, and the bright white skin was on purpose, but maybe it could have been a little bit diffused? Still pasty, but with the faintest of shadow so she didn't automatically blend into white backgrounds. But I really enjoyed the Visuals, and the story. The dialogue was pretty good also. Thanks for sharing your story. Going after Inanna's Revenge next.
Just a heads up. The download here, alwaysfan-01-win-linux.zip, does NOT uncompress in Linux. This is likely due to the fact that Linux recognizes a case difference in text (A vs. a) kind of like your brain. Windows does not know the difference. If this game was compressed using Windows, then that mistake can be made. This is not the first time this has happened on Itch. I had to transfer the .zip file and use WinRar to uncompress this game. The good new is, after that it runs fine in Linux.
Hello, that's interesting because no one has ever reported this bug to me before. Could you send me the error message or log you get during the extraction?
There is no error other than a banner error during extraction from the .zip file. This happens instantly, the minute I try to extract the game. This error is not from the game itself so there is no traceback.
As I said, this is not the first time this has happened. I am trying to find a solution because it seem to happen more often lately. It all depends on how the game was compressed. The only reason I have started Windows in 5 years, is to extract a game 😒.
I should have replied to this ages ago and I may have on discord. This problem was solved by unzipping the game in a terminal and not using the GUI version of unzip. This seems to be a bug ONLY with my Linux version and no others. Just my luck 😄.
Is there no plan of completing android updates in the future? I've been putting off this game purely cause I don't have a desktop or a laptop and mostly play on my phone. Was wondering if u could continue updating it in the future?
Do you you use the correct version of Joiplay, from the official website (the one referenced in my installation guide) ? Another unofficial version exists, but it has many bugs, especially on older Renpy games.

Hey, I've played the story through a few times, and now I'm going in again to get the achievements. How are we supposed to get the Founder one if we can't play an earlier version anymore? This is on Windows.
Simply load a savegame from before version 1.0 and the achievement should unlock. Unfortunately, if you no longer have a savegame from that era, it's no longer possible to obtain it (since that's the whole point of this hidden achievement).
I want to start by saying that I love this game and Emilie is a total darling and MC is, at least according to my decisions, a bit of a legend.
Now I fully recognise that this may be because I'm missing something, I have missed something or am simply not clever enough but I can't get through the bloody server sequence with Natacha and Iris. I've gone through it a dozen times and I can't see what it is I'm missing out.
I get the reason for not having a walkthrough and I can see that the game could ... can go off in a hundred different directions
So, it's not obvious, but I think what you're likely missing is that there are hidden files in the file explorer that can be revealed by clicking the 'show hidden files' button. I didn't realise it would work properly either.
If that doesn't work, you just need to search through the emails with the right keywords. I won't post them here due to spoilers, but everything you need is provided in the section.
Oh, and the security cameras, but I figure those are the obvious ones.
Took me over 2 days of almost nontop playing to finish this game and imo its the best VN ive read in an incredibly long time. Its so well written that i kind wish i played the "evil /slave/ routes first because I cant bring myself to hurt these girls in this game now. The characters are so well written and I became so attached. Even now I feel like a hole is in my chest now as if I've lost friends due to how well the story sucked me in emotionally... BRAVO!!! I WILL FOREVER BE A FAN OF YOURS!
What studios etc... do you use to make these games? Im curious becausenive been interested in making a vn game myself and have no idea where to start studying. Ive heard Daz and photoshop and im decent in python from when i studied web design but going into game design is uncharted territory and im at a loss honestly.
For the visuals, I use Honey Select 2. It’s a NSFW game developed by Illusion (a studio that, sadly, has since shut down). It comes with a tool called NeoStudio, which lets you create scenes featuring the characters you've made in the game. Daz is another solid option, though I’m personally less into its visual style. If you go with the first option, I highly recommend downloading BetterRepack — it gives you a strong modded foundation to work with right out of the box. In both cases, there are plenty of tutorials online to guide you through the process.
To edit my visuals, I use Gimp, a free alternative to Photoshop.
As for the code, I use Ren'Py, which is a great framework for building visual novels in a pretty intuitive way. It's built heavily on Python, so any knowledge you have of that language will be really useful if you want to create more advanced features.

I'm really glad to hear that my game inspired you and makes you want to create something of your own! As for streaming my work, it's not really something I have planned. I’m not sure there would be much patrons interest in that kind of content. Plus, I’m a pretty shy person by nature, so I’d find it difficult to comment on what I’m doing or interact with people live. Maybe one day I’ll make a sort of "behind-the-scenes" video if more people ask for it, we’ll see!
Whyyy!!! I wanted to complete the harem achievement in my first playthrough but now i can because you wrote Nicolas into such a great guy! Now i cant take his girl from him 🤣🤣🤣 (in the first playthrough)
So after beating the game with the full love route harem, I've realized that there's about 50 metric fuck tons of dialogue in it and it'd take actual years to sift through it and fix some of the grammar mistakes.
That didn't change my opinion of the game at all though. It tells a very compelling story. While it isn't the best in terms of graphical quality (I played the compressed version so that's most of the reason why), I mainly found the story and characters appealing. I enjoyed the overall story as well as the antagonists in it. They were quite easy to hate even if they didn't appear all that often. The little combat sections were fun and simple too and only required a bit of thinking. I'm trying not to spoil things while at the same time trying to make a valid review that's actually meaningful and it's a bit difficult. Anyways, the choice of having an Albino woman as the main LI is very unique too and you've done an excellent job of making her a likeable character. The characters in general were incredibly varied. Each one have a very unique body and personality.
The only downside I've noticed is that it feels like some of the characters don't get that much screen time. There's a lot of them, 10 main ones and 3 side ones. And a few of them don't get much time to shine. So that's something I recommend trying to balance with future games. Trying to either limit the amount of romanceable characters or giving them all a decent chunk of screen time. I know this was basically a "trial run" and it feels like one. It feels like "Once in a Lifetime" which was also a sort of trial run. I'd say it was successful, you've successfully created a decent length very compelling and at times very wholesome story (at least on the routes I've chosen). That's another thing to mention, almost every character has three routes... three. Love, Sub, and sharing. The first two seem to be fairly interchangeable for almost every character as in you could have 5 on the love route and 5 on the sub route for example. The sharing one seems to be more of a separate game/completely different story, which I've not done as it's not my thing. That's impressive, especially considering the amount of changes each different combination of routes might bring to the story while making sure it still works together.
Pretty good game. I've enjoyed it and look forward to playing Inanna Revenge next.
I totally agree with you, a lot of the dialogue could really use a rewrite. English isn’t my first language, and while I think my grammar has improved quite a bit over the course of the project, there are still plenty of awkward lines and mistakes, especially in the earlier parts of the game.
Right now, alongside working on Inanna Revenge, I’m also spending a bit of my free time translating AlwaysFan into French. It was originally supposed to just be a straight translation, but as I went through the English script again, I noticed a bunch of issues I couldn't ignore, so I’ve also started fixing and polishing the English text as I go. I’m not promising I’ll do it for the entire game, that would take way too long, but whenever I spot something that clearly needs fixing, I’ll definitely clean it up. I’m planning to release a patch (hopefully around the 1.0 anniversary in early August) that will clean up a lot of the writing.
As for the rest of your review: I’m really glad you enjoyed the game and the characters! This was indeed kind of a "trial run" for me, a way to learn the ropes with Ren'Py and Honey Select, and despite the rough edges, I’m still pretty proud of how it turned out.
I just started playing and it isn't too bad so far but I do find myself occasionally being distracted by the English errors. Some of them aren't too bad but others I have to run the entire sentence through my head, replace a few words, and reorganize it to see if it sounds better.
You might want to look through it real quick and fix up some things in a small update.

and i only explored the more vanilla stuff... i did not have the girls post their nudes online, nor was i super dominant with the choices. So i know there is ALOT more content to explore still...

If you tried to download it from another platform, check that the version of JoiPlay you have installed is the same (1.20.023), as other versions exist but are not compatible with AlwaysFan.
Hello. I tried downloading the AlwaysFan*1.0) for Windows and Linx and got 2 error messages. The first error I got was not having permission and the second error I got was download error.
Hello, regarding your download problem, I just checked and I was able to download and launch the game without any problem. So the issue must be with your connection or your web browser.
As for the permissions error, it would be easier to help you with the exact error message. If you're referring to the blue windows box indicating that this app is from an unknown publisher, which can happen with independent RenPy games, you need to click on additional information, then on run anyway. If you're talking about another error message, try to run it as administrator.

Just a heads up. The download here, alwaysfan-01-win-linux.zip, does NOT uncompress in Linux. This is likely due to the fact that Linux recognizes a case difference in text (A vs. a) kind of like your brain. Windows does not know the difference. If this game was compressed using Windows, then that mistake can be made. This is not the first time this has happened on Itch. I had to transfer the .zip file and use WinRar to uncompress this game. The good new is, after that it runs fine in Linux.
Hello, that's interesting because no one has ever reported this bug to me before. Could you send me the error message or log you get during the extraction?
There is no error other than a banner error during extraction from the .zip file. This happens instantly, the minute I try to extract the game. This error is not from the game itself so there is no traceback.
As I said, this is not the first time this has happened. I am trying to find a solution because it seem to happen more often lately. It all depends on how the game was compressed. The only reason I have started Windows in 5 years, is to extract a game 😒.
I should have replied to this ages ago and I may have on discord. This problem was solved by unzipping the game in a terminal and not using the GUI version of unzip. This seems to be a bug ONLY with my Linux version and no others. Just my luck 😄.

Do you you use the correct version of Joiplay, from the official website (the one referenced in my installation guide) ? Another unofficial version exists, but it has many bugs, especially on older Renpy games.

Hey, I've played the story through a few times, and now I'm going in again to get the achievements. How are we supposed to get the Founder one if we can't play an earlier version anymore? This is on Windows.
Simply load a savegame from before version 1.0 and the achievement should unlock. Unfortunately, if you no longer have a savegame from that era, it's no longer possible to obtain it (since that's the whole point of this hidden achievement).

I want to start by saying that I love this game and Emilie is a total darling and MC is, at least according to my decisions, a bit of a legend.
Now I fully recognise that this may be because I'm missing something, I have missed something or am simply not clever enough but I can't get through the bloody server sequence with Natacha and Iris. I've gone through it a dozen times and I can't see what it is I'm missing out.
I get the reason for not having a walkthrough and I can see that the game could ... can go off in a hundred different directions
So, it's not obvious, but I think what you're likely missing is that there are hidden files in the file explorer that can be revealed by clicking the 'show hidden files' button. I didn't realise it would work properly either.
If that doesn't work, you just need to search through the emails with the right keywords. I won't post them here due to spoilers, but everything you need is provided in the section.
Oh, and the security cameras, but I figure those are the obvious ones.
Took me over 2 days of almost nontop playing to finish this game and imo its the best VN ive read in an incredibly long time. Its so well written that i kind wish i played the "evil /slave/ routes first because I cant bring myself to hurt these girls in this game now. The characters are so well written and I became so attached. Even now I feel like a hole is in my chest now as if I've lost friends due to how well the story sucked me in emotionally... BRAVO!!! What studios etc... do you use to make these games? Im curious becausenive been interested in making a vn game myself and have no idea where to start studying. Ive heard Daz and photoshop and im decent in python from when i studied web design but going into game design is uncharted territory and im at a loss honestly.
For the visuals, I use Honey Select 2. It’s a NSFW game developed by Illusion (a studio that, sadly, has since shut down). It comes with a tool called NeoStudio, which lets you create scenes featuring the characters you've made in the game. Daz is another solid option, though I’m personally less into its visual style.
If you go with the first option, I highly recommend downloading BetterRepack — it gives you a strong modded foundation to work with right out of the box.
In both cases, there are plenty of tutorials online to guide you through the process.
To edit my visuals, I use Gimp, a free alternative to Photoshop.
As for the code, I use Ren'Py, which is a great framework for building visual novels in a pretty intuitive way. It's built heavily on Python, so any knowledge you have of that language will be really useful if you want to create more advanced features.

I'm really glad to hear that my game inspired you and makes you want to create something of your own! As for streaming my work, it's not really something I have planned. I’m not sure there would be much patrons interest in that kind of content. Plus, I’m a pretty shy person by nature, so I’d find it difficult to comment on what I’m doing or interact with people live. Maybe one day I’ll make a sort of "behind-the-scenes" video if more people ask for it, we’ll see!
Whyyy!!! I wanted to complete the harem achievement in my first playthrough but now i can because you wrote Nicolas into such a great guy! Now i cant take his girl from him 🤣🤣🤣 (in the first playthrough)
So after beating the game with the full love route harem, I've realized that there's about 50 metric fuck tons of dialogue in it and it'd take actual years to sift through it and fix some of the grammar mistakes.
That didn't change my opinion of the game at all though. It tells a very compelling story. While it isn't the best in terms of graphical quality (I played the compressed version so that's most of the reason why), I mainly found the story and characters appealing. I enjoyed the overall story as well as the antagonists in it. They were quite easy to hate even if they didn't appear all that often. The little combat sections were fun and simple too and only required a bit of thinking. I'm trying not to spoil things while at the same time trying to make a valid review that's actually meaningful and it's a bit difficult. Anyways, the choice of having an Albino woman as the main LI is very unique too and you've done an excellent job of making her a likeable character. The characters in general were incredibly varied. Each one have a very unique body and personality.
The only downside I've noticed is that it feels like some of the characters don't get that much screen time. There's a lot of them, 10 main ones and 3 side ones. And a few of them don't get much time to shine. So that's something I recommend trying to balance with future games. Trying to either limit the amount of romanceable characters or giving them all a decent chunk of screen time. I know this was basically a "trial run" and it feels like one. It feels like "Once in a Lifetime" which was also a sort of trial run. I'd say it was successful, you've successfully created a decent length very compelling and at times very wholesome story (at least on the routes I've chosen). That's another thing to mention, almost every character has three routes... three. Love, Sub, and sharing. The first two seem to be fairly interchangeable for almost every character as in you could have 5 on the love route and 5 on the sub route for example. The sharing one seems to be more of a separate game/completely different story, which I've not done as it's not my thing. That's impressive, especially considering the amount of changes each different combination of routes might bring to the story while making sure it still works together.
Pretty good game. I've enjoyed it and look forward to playing Inanna Revenge next.

I totally agree with you, a lot of the dialogue could really use a rewrite. English isn’t my first language, and while I think my grammar has improved quite a bit over the course of the project, there are still plenty of awkward lines and mistakes, especially in the earlier parts of the game.
Right now, alongside working on Inanna Revenge, I’m also spending a bit of my free time translating AlwaysFan into French. It was originally supposed to just be a straight translation, but as I went through the English script again, I noticed a bunch of issues I couldn't ignore, so I’ve also started fixing and polishing the English text as I go. I’m not promising I’ll do it for the entire game, that would take way too long, but whenever I spot something that clearly needs fixing, I’ll definitely clean it up. I’m planning to release a patch (hopefully around the 1.0 anniversary in early August) that will clean up a lot of the writing.
As for the rest of your review: I’m really glad you enjoyed the game and the characters! This was indeed kind of a "trial run" for me, a way to learn the ropes with Ren'Py and Honey Select, and despite the rough edges, I’m still pretty proud of how it turned out.
I just started playing and it isn't too bad so far but I do find myself occasionally being distracted by the English errors. Some of them aren't too bad but others I have to run the entire sentence through my head, replace a few words, and reorganize it to see if it sounds better.
You might want to look through it real quick and fix up some things in a small update.

Hello, regarding your download problem, I just checked and I was able to download and launch the game without any problem. So the issue must be with your connection or your web browser.
As for the permissions error, it would be easier to help you with the exact error message. If you're referring to the blue windows box indicating that this app is from an unknown publisher, which can happen with independent RenPy games, you need to click on additional information, then on run anyway. If you're talking about another error message, try to run it as administrator.
