Anonymous asked:

Who is this verdict, what’s their (?) deal, what do they look for in a friend, who’s their biggest enemy

bisectro answered:

Who is Verdict?

Verdict is my Reflection ttrpg character for a homegame that I play every Sunday!!

Verdict (they/them) is an assassin from a floating city on the hand of a God called “Skypoint”! Their gun is woman called Spymaster (art on the right by Xamag) that uses gossip and secrets as bullets; the more well kept the secret, the more likely the bullet is to topple a dynasty.

*V.E.R.D.I.C.T is an acronym of all the collected names and identities they assumed in their lifetime. From ‘V’ to ’T’ and then the cycle repeats back to 'V’.

I used to keep these names hush hush. But now that I’ve been playing them in campaign for a year, I’m fine with revealing these to the public.

image

What’s their deal?

To give you an idea of Verdict’s personality, here’s a few things they did in campaign

  • Got into Cruel World’s Catalogue and tamed the oldest known fear: “Fear of the dark”. Kept it in a tiny box and then proceeded to forget about it in their coat pocket
  • Disarmed an assasin (Literally)
  • And I mean that verdict shot a bullet through one shoulder and out the other.
  • Fed the assassin apples like a horse.
  • Got their ESP by playing crosswords with said assassin
  • Tackled a person off of a building
  • and then used the inertia of their gunfire to break their own fall
  • Made a bomb forget it’s a bomb.
  • Only orders Strawberry smoothies and chocolate milkshakes from bars

Basically Verdict doesn’t give a damn. Send your lawyers, Verdict will fuck them.

What do they look for in a friend?

Someone dangerous, someone who loves to “yes, and?” and play along with them. Because Verdict is super weird on their own. They want someone to match their freak behavior and not judge them for 1) killing people, and 2) being emotionally stunted and condescending.

Who’s their biggest enemy?

Is it other assassins? Is it a big bad that threatens to destroy the world and everyone Verdict loves???

No.

It’s some guy called Embroil Wilder who always causes a scene and is confrontational. Embroil is played by my friend, Froglog!

image

image

Why does Verdict hate their co-worker who means well and looks nonthreatening??? Because Embroil never listens to ANYONE. and is so insistent on doing things his way (((THE STUPID WAY))) (Embroil signed a pact with the grim reaper without consulting anyone.)

EDIT

Hey! @whatifyandsand found some similar fonts used for the sheet so make sure to thank them!

They've included a psd file with a detailed guide on which fonts to use

Verdict (They/Them) Spymaster (She/Her)

So my problem with most ‘get to know your character’ questioneers is that they’re full of questions that just aren’t that important (what color eyes do they have) too hard to answer right away (what is their greatest fear) or are just impossible to answer (what is their favorite movie.)  Like no one has one single favorite movie. And even if they do the answer changes.

If I’m doing this exercise, I want 7-10 questions to get the character feeling real in my head. So I thought I’d share the ones that get me (and my students) good results:

  1. What is the character’s go-to drink order? (this one gets into how do they like to be publicly perceived, because there is always some level of theatricality to ordering drinks at a bar/resturant)
  2. What is their grooming routine? (how do they treat themselves in private)
  3. What was their most expensive purchase/where does their disposable income go? (Gets you thinking about socio-economic class, values, and how they spend their leisure time)
  4. Do they have any scars or tattoos? (good way to get into literal backstory)
  5. What was the last time they cried, and under what circumstances? (Good way to get some *emotional* backstory in.)
  6. Are they an oldest, middle, youngest or only child? (This one might be a me thing, because I LOVE writing/reading about family dynamics, but knowing what kinds of things were ‘normal’ for them growing up is important.)
  7. Describe the shoes they’re wearing. (This is a big catch all, gets into money, taste, practicality, level of wear, level of repair, literally what kind of shoes they require to live their life.)
  8. Describe the place where they sleep. (ie what does their safe space look like. How much (or how little) care / decoration / personal touch goes into it.)
  9. What is their favorite holiday? (How do they relate to their culture/outside world. Also fun is least favorite holiday.)
  10. What objects do they always carry around with them? (What do they need for their normal, day-to-day routine? What does ‘normal’ even look like for them.)

Hellauurrr!! I’ll be answering these questions for my reflection FLOWc Verdict

  1. What is the character’s go-to drink order? (this one gets into how do they like to be publicly perceived, because there is always some level of theatricality to ordering drinks at a bar/resturant)

Verdict either orders one of two things: Strawberry Milkshake, or Chocolate Milk. Which are both very odd to ask at a Bar. but they do so anyways as Verdict never loved the taste of liquor.

image

2. What is their grooming routine? (how do they treat themselves in private)

Verdict takes very good care of their appearance. Verdict has 3A hair. and because they don’t like blow-drying it after a shower, they air-dry their hair.
As for the order in which they wear their clothes in the morning:

image

3. What was their most expensive purchase/where does their disposable income go? (Gets you thinking about socio-economic class, values, and how they spend their leisure time)

Having worked in organized crime for a wealthy information syndicate called the Golden Castle as a hitman for about a decade, Verdict gets a pretty hefty paycheck that they often do not know what to do with.
Verdict was very poor as a child and is now compensating for it. They end up spending a bunch of it on broadening their food experiences, cute clothes to wear during days off and, of course, hair dye!
That being said, Verdict has never bought a house (they move around places too much to get attached to a single address) or a car (it’s got a big maintenance requirement) but they have workmates that have.

image

4. Do they have any scars or tattoos? (good way to get into literal backstory)

Verdict does not have any tattoos. Due to the nature of their job, and their requirement to change their identity every so often, a tattoo would be a dead give-away and would impede their efforts with doing their job. (Verdict is a very wanted criminal)

5. What was the last time they cried, and under what circumstances?

Joining OPIA has given Verdict plenty of opportunities to forgo being emotionally constipated and actually cry. They cried in front of Ridill Arondite when they were talking about the bleak fate of the world. They cried when their teammate and rival nearly died during an emergency deployment.
Despite the masks Verdict is forced to wear out of the fear of their life, Verdict has always been a carer at heart.

image

6. Are they an oldest, middle, youngest or only child?

Verdict is an only child. They lived with their mother in Skypoint. When their mother passed away, Verdict was only age 10. They had to skip school and sadly they never continued their formal education.
But Verdict compensated by pursuing political, historical and linguistic knowledge through reading all the books they can during their off time.

7. Describe the shoes they’re wearing. (This is a big catch all, gets into money, taste, practicality, level of wear, level of repair, literally what kind of shoes they require to live their life.)

Screw it. let me just show you

image

When not wearing their squeaky clean buck shoes for meetings, they opt for anything Velcro as it’s easy to slip into and get out of.

8. Describe the place where they sleep. (ie what does their safe space look like. How much (or how little) care / decoration / personal touch goes into it.)

Verdict lives in the dorms that OPIA so graciously provided for them.
On Verdict’s bed, they have pink duvets, strawberry prints and ribbons that probably smell like strawberries, too.
Again, Verdict did not have a very kind childhood. So now that they’re grown up, they are compensating for it by buying all the things that give them comfort.

image

9. What is their favorite holiday? (How do they relate to their culture/outside world. Also fun is least favorite holiday.)

Their birthday is their favorite holiday! Aside from that, Verdict enjoys Skypoint’s annual festival in Palm Park where historical reenactors put on a cultural show of how Skypoint came to be after Upwind’s arm was severed and its people were carried into the sky.
Verdict has a historical fiction book written by the lead of these actors that they have held onto since their mother gave it to Verdict nearly 3 decades ago.

9. What objects do they always carry around with them? (What do they need for their normal, day-to-day routine? What does ‘normal’ even look like for them.)

In Wave 2 RP, Verdict carries the following items. The items on the Equipment side is in case they had to get into an emergency CODA dive.
And the items on the right hands side are for day to day use.
