1/12: Online Open Mic

DIRECTIONS:
Please register here to perform in our virtual open mic on Monday, January 12, 2026 starting at 8pm Mountain Time (10pm ET / 7pm PT). We host the event on Zoom software. If you don't have it yet, download here: https://zoom.us/ 

To register, please enter your information below, then click "submit."  Please confirm submission. If you don't want to perform, but want to be part of our virtual audience, please join us for the livestream on our Youtube channel. We usually aim to start the livestream around 8:30pm MST 

RULES/SUGGESTIONS:
  • Performances are limited to 5-7 minutes each, and we are offering up to 25 guaranteed performance slots.
  • We welcome poetry, prose, music, and "cover poems"
  • Please familiarize yourself with the Zoom software beforehand for best results. If you plan on singing and/or playing an instrument, please review How to Enable advanced audio profile in a meeting. 
  • While the show is in progress, please keep your mic muted unless it is your turn to read and/or you want to applaud after another performer's performance.
  • The first 30 minutes of the hour are dedicated to sound and tech check.
RESPECT THE MIC & ONE ANOTHER: 
There will be no tolerance for hate speech, bullying, sexual misconduct, or other inappropriate behavior. Any infractions of these guidelines will result in an immediate ejection from the zoom session and a ban from future events.

What is your stage name? *
This is how the host will introduce you on the show. You may also share your preferred pronouns so the host gets it right.
What will you be performing? *
Genre will suffice (e.g. Poetry, Prose, Music, Freestyle, Dance, etc). Keep in mind that you will be in charge of your own audio. Make sure your instruments are tuned and you're ready to perform when it is your turn. If possible, complete a sound check prior to the open mic to make sure you aren't too loud or too quiet. Headphones are recommended. If needed, test out the Zoom app beforehand. For musicians, during the stream, make sure to disable any kind of sound suppression and select "Enable Original sound" for best audio.This is something that you can look up. 
Where will you be joining us from? *
Even though we are based in El Paso, TX, we encourage participants from anywhere around the globe. Please let us know if you'll be joining us from anywhere else. Keep in mind that the start time will be 8pm Mountain Daylight Savings Time (US), so make sure to plan accordingly. If you want your location to be anonymous, we will respect your wishes, simply fill in "n/a"
Bio Notes, Special Links, Social Media, Etc.
This isn't mandatory, but will be helpful to the host in mentioning any relevant information. This could also include any relevant links to websites, merch, social media, etc. After your performance, the host will encourage you to share any social media links and/or quick announcements of features and publications.

*This is not guaranteed. It is only to help us better understand people's preferences. While we mainly stick to the order in which people sign up, sometimes we have to shuffle things around in order to maximize the number of performers we can get on. We might normally prioritize those who live in time zones that are much later on than ourselves. We'll always try our best to be fair in this process. Thank you for understanding!
