Multimatic is back at Silverstone this week to support the students competing in FSUK, and we brought an absolutely electrifying display car to show off ⚡️ Stop by and talk to our engineers about the one and only Lotus Evija X, the extreme, purpose-built version of the electric hypercar developed specifically for the track. We will also be presenting the Multimatic Vehicle Dynamics Excellence Award again this year to the team that best demonstrates understanding and application of vehicle dynamics. Another FSAE Electric competition is in the books! It is always a pleasure for us to engage with some of the top engineering minds at Michigan International Speedway, helping them solve problems with technical insight, and the occasional fastener or adhesive. For International Women in Engineering Day, we caught up with our vehicle dynamics intern Grace, who introduced us to her Queen's Racing Formula SAE Team teammates, Jenny and Claire. Women make up 35% of their team, including many in leadership roles. We asked how they’ve built an inclusive culture and share advice for other young women who are pursuing engineering. For National Road Trip Day, we’re travelling back to one of our most memorable road trips: the 1995 One Lap of America with the Ford Aluminum Intensive Vehicle (AIV).   The AIV was an experimental program exploring the use of aluminum in automotive applications. Multimatic supported the engineering and development of the doors as well as durability testing.   In 1995, we partnered with Ford to campaign the AIV in the One Lap of America—a series of time trials across multiple East Coast racetracks, with competitors driving overnight between events. The AIV test vehicles were based on production Mercury Sables that was built on a fully aluminum structure. Our test car, equipped with a manual transmission, received the full Multimatic treatment: suspension from our Ford Taurus SHO racecar, a bit more power from the Yamaha V6, and resident hotshoe Scott Maxwell behind the wheel.   Got any epic road trip stories?
