Coe Lansdell is a South African illustrator and speculative fiction writer. Years ago, a dream about a shy projectionist and a magnetic character on stage, and the gap between them, sparked an idea. The characters, Prismer and Oklas, stayed with Coe, eventually appearing in her debut novel, Far Removed (Book 1 in the Apidecca Duology).
All the characters in her books belong to a gender-ambiguous species called knyads. They are semi-aquatic and live on a moon with an extended day/night cycle. Her stories deal with themes of social inequality, and seeking faith and connection in an unjust alien world.
Coe also has a novelette, The Tidelings of Dras Sayve, which follows the knyad who mentored Oklas. She is currently preparing the sequel to Far Removed for ARC readers and has a few short stories in the works.
