African creator monetization platform Twiva has secured an investment from Sony Innovation Fundcapital arm of @Sony Group Corporation. According to Twiva, the funding will support their expansion, AI-driven tools, and financial solutions like Twiva Pay, which facilitates payments for content creators. The start-up, which operates at the intersection of social commerce, influencer marketing, and fintech, offers monetization opportunities through its branded house model. They were part of the latest Safaricom PLC Spark Accelerator.

We hit every target we set for our first year, and that is precisely the problem. In just one year, Contemeleon Technologies has proven that Africa’s creator economy is ready for structured growth, and we’ve built the system to make it happen. As a platform connecting creators and brands through verified campaigns, we’ve spent the past five months validating both product-market fit and operational scalability. Here’s what that looks like in numbers: ✅ Built and launched our Minimum Marketable Product (MMP) in six months with a team of five designers and developers. ✅ Onboarded 200 creators in the first week of our pilot and developed a scalable system projected to grow at ~130 new verified creators monthly, reaching 1,000 creators within six months. ✅ Established an education pipeline via TikTok to train and empower emerging talents. In three months, our training content has reached over 20,000 creatives, 70% of whom are women. ✅ Curated a WhatsApp creator community providing learning resources and job opportunities to 200+ active members. ✅ Facilitated three brand partnerships, generating ₦2 million in earnings for creators during beta. All this was achieved without external funding - proof of operational discipline, resourcefulness, and market validation. Now, our next phase is clear: → Scale to 10,000 verified creators → Build automated brand-campaign management infrastructure using AI → Expand into pan-African partnerships that unlock cross-border creator payments and data-backed campaign metrics To accelerate this vision, we’re seeking funding and strategic institutional partnerships that align with SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). Ten years ago, I took a bet. That Africa’s FinTech story would be written not only through code, capital, or compliance, but through people. It was 2015. “FinTech” wasn’t a buzzword yet. A few pioneers were experimenting with mobile payments, a handful of digital lenders were just emerging, and venture funding across the continent barely touched a billion dollars. Back then, few could have imagined the scale of change ahead - a movement that would redefine finance, business, and opportunity across Africa.
