The Hollow Minotaur [The Automaton]:
A mechanical doll built in the image of the girl from the center of the labyrinth.
It is her purpose to travel the labyrinth to it's very end.
Ariadne [The Maiden at the Center of the Labyrinth]:
The Idol of the Labyrinth. No one is allowed to see her except the Architects
themselves.
The Phantom Minotaur [The Automaton's Shadow]:
A fleeting strand of Memory without a machine to interface with.
Though she remembers crossing it, she cannot tell which side of the Looking Glass she is on now.
Tao [The Black Rabbit]
The Master of Death's lathe and the Labyrinth's psychopomp. She oversees all
strands of Memory that flow to and from the center.
Seras [The Angel]:
The Maiden's Golden Songbird who has devoted their life to guiding the maiden to the end of the Labyrinth. It's said they have the power to destroy any wall or barrier within the Labyrinth.
Lilim [The Chimera Witch]:
An illegal Doll who does not belong in this story. She considers herself
the last living practitioner of the art of Cartography. No one knows what
her true intentions are.
The Ship of Theseus [The White Matador]:
Alas, the passage of time has rendered the hero of the Labyrinth's corpse to dust while the Reliquary built to contain him still walks. He believes he is a saint from the old world and the only human left in the Labyrinth.
Daedalus [The Architect]:
The Master of Labyrinth.
One of the immortal machine wizards built long ago to oversee the World Egg and the Labyrinth built around it. He cannot be bested by his own creations.

I am likely going to be forced to give up on the game 😞. I like the idea but it seems there is a riddle of sorts I cannot solve for the life of me between the crypt or Styx. I have stepped on every tile I can remember, pressed every wall and tried to walk over the air on every possible location. I tried to use the jar of memory in all places that I could imagine as well and nothing. At this point my only hope it's going to be to hope someone makes a guide so I can progress the main story.
If it matters at all, my archetype was the conspirator.
Ran into a bug, not sure if it'll occur again, but if it does I'm not sure if I can actually complete the game as it crashed suddenly.

SOS I'm lost in the Labyrinth! I've gotten to Styx F1, but the only way I see to progress is this maze of shifting walls in the top-left of the map, but I've been poking around there for what feels like hours and just end up walking in circles. At this point I'm not sure if I'm missing an obvious way out or the whole maze is just a dead end made by that damn Sage of Labyrinths. I fear I'll be lost in here forever ...
Just trying to confirm, but on a my first cycle is getting the 4 keys actually impossible since I started as Mysterian? I have the 0Y00 key, and 000! key, but I don't understand if I'm missing something about Styx, am I unable to the key in there? And I have no idea at all where the other could be, but I'm assuming that one might be a skill issue, but I'm not sure.
Can someone link me any kind of guide on alchemy? After 35 hours I still don't understand fully how exactly it works so any hints, especially regarding stuff like new archetypes, would be appreciated

been playing on a w11 system, but if any other high-TEC dolls have experience with Linux distros, I'm curious to figure out where to put the fonts in Bazzite that the game might happen to look for them. installing them into the OS normally doesn't seem to matter, and I'm not sure what Bazzite with the itch.io app does to make the game run.

I'm having a wonderful time with this game so far! Methodically wandering the dungeon does my EO/SMT-starved heart some good. The visual design in this game is top-notch, too. Would you ever consider some kind of art/design book in the future?
But I also must ask: I've been wandering endlessly yet I can't seem to figure out where to try out the key Velvet gave me. Would anyone have a nudge where to go? Hopefully it isn't one of the sigil I opened with Lilim's keys, as I'd already opened all those and there's nothing left to interact with.

Hello, I'm playing the game and finally reached the archive, and some of the Pareidolia Anomaly files don't have images on them. Is that supposed to happen or is there something wrong with my save?
I've kept this save ever since the first revision, so I don't know if there is something breaking the data.
This has been reported a number of times and I am not sure whats causing it/and I cant replicate it (especially since it only seems to be some and not all when the bitmap call for each one is the same). Can you email me your save (email is in the readme) so i can take a look?

BTW, I'm having a lot of fun now that I finally reached the point where I got to the Archive, since I have created 1 part member of each class and I've been messing around with them (now the new MEM I got is being used to upgrade weapons at Seven Metals, and when I more confident I will also be spending stuff on the Body Alchemy stuff.

I would like to at some point. I moved computers between finishing this and all my FLStudio project files for the music need to have their vsts rerouted to the correct samples (a huge pain). But it's something I am planning on in the future (along with a Steam release for the game).

some friends of mine have had issues where certain status moves will cause the game to hang and crash, i know it's definitely happened with the Truffler's Spore attack, and i think some others.
If you run into a bug you should send a bug report to the email in the readme with more information (like if it crashes what the error message says). And what attacks make it happen if you and your friends can remember the other ones.

I'm still early in the game so I apologize if this is explained later, but is there anywhere I can read that explains what each stat does? Atleast their full names?
It's supposed to be nebulous what they exactly do. Some early NPCs will talk about the stats correlate to what weapons, and later on there is a book that will give more specifics. You can probably intuit what most of them do, and whats good for each class based on what stats they want for their archetype abilities.
Is the game pretty well bug-free now? I've been looking forward to it but it seems to have had a pretty buggy launch.
The launch is mostly screwed up by the dev forgetting to ship the game with the font used in the game.
Right now, given update is less frequent, I would say we're close to bug free
(Dev is pretty responsive, except on Weekend, so 👍)

One criticism from today's episode playthrough is I feel like Styx and Crypt of Popes is too dark in some sections

Also, Book doesn't seem to be intended to be actually borrowed even tho some books give beneficial buff if I had it in my inventory

There is a notification when there are four Abraxas phases left before the book is overdue.

I've to find a tile in the current Room/Floor close to where the notification trigger to trigger a Random / High Level encounter?
The latter is because I noticed that the same notification can trigger multiple time when exploring the same Room/Floor
If you go to some bar, one of the customers tells you that during either new abraxas or full moon abraxas has different enemies of spawning.
When you get the notification, I'm pretty sure that is when the rare enemy is now in the enemy pool.
Therefore, you have to be lucky to get the rare encounter, because you can still get normal encounters during that period.
Seems like I'm just unlucky, yeah

I'm on the current patch (1.5.8) and still get the bug that text wouldn't render apparently (opening cutscene gave me exclusively blank text boxes). For context I'm on Windows 10 still if that somehow makes a difference? Not sure what to do here I'll try to reinstall the game and see if it still occurs.
You need to manually install the fonts in the font folder. The game will not auto install them and never auto installed them. The bug in 1.0 originally was that I did not ship the game with one of the fonts needed. It is in there now.

not sure if that info helps but I did install the game through the itch launcher so I didn't check the game files at all before launching the game, which is admittedly a user issue on my end I realize, but yeah putting some disclaimer on the store page might help with some confusion. anyways the game is running perfectly fine now looking forward to this :)
Ah, that would make sense. I've never touched the Itch launcher before but I can see that creating a problem for people if it's like Steam's launcher/app, which is my impression of it.
Anyone try emulating this on Android via JoiPlay or Winlator? Game doesn't seem to work with JoiPlay on my end unfortunately, so I'm settling for playing on Deck for now. Looks like it runs pretty smooth on Deck fortunately.
I'm in the middle of trying to find the keys around the first circle. Am I right in assuming that two of them are in the deeper parts of the Crypt/Styx that you can't access if you did the Mysterian skip, or is there some other path in the Backstage I'm overlooking?

If you choose Mysterian in the second cycle and haven't done the main part of Styx yet, Lilim teleports you directly to the end of it, with the lower part of the crypt staying blocked off. If you got the key in the Crypt it's not something you'd have to worry about, and in whatever case getting all the keys is something that requires having both the lower Crypt and the main body of Styx accessible.
There is the fan discord linked down below that has some documentation in it, but the link's expired at this point.

As for the Styx one: you know the Backstage area at the bottom of the map? There's a third entrance to it.
bottom of the map? I'm not sure where you mean.The only entrances I know are the gate which I can't use, and the one from the area near the crypt, which seems to be a useless entrance.
If there's another way into it, which map/entrance is it from? Maybe I'm missing something.

I'm not sure what you mean by bottom of the map I suppose. The bottom of Lethe leads into the backstage where the forum area is, but I can't get into the shortcut inside if that's the one you mean, which I presume is at the bottom left of the map there.
if you know of a way I can get into it, I'd like some direction (don't have to tell me explicitly), but the only 2 entrances I know are the Gate I can't go in, the entrance by the crypt. I presume the shortcut to the bottom left, similar to the crypt one on the bottom right, but it seems like a one sided entrance only.
1.5.1 fixes the bugs and I shall happily report that I have successfully progressed the story

The game has really taken me so far but I do not get what I'm supposed to do with the skill that Lilim gave me to open those rune doors. Both of them lead to puzzles I don't really get and nothing to "bypass" the rabbit's insane request.
If you just got the key there are 3 sigil doors you can access at that point. the one on B6F leads to progress.
Hello, I wanted to ask, is it okay to move Saves between versions?
Also, are you willing to confirm the number of Minotaur archetypes?
Yes! If you download the full version you should be able to move saves. You can also download the patch version and merge "TheLabyrinth" folder in it with your old one and that will also update the game, no moving of saves necessary. Some people have reported equipment related bugs since 1.4.8 (i think i've caught them all/tested but haven't heard back from anyone who reported them?) but if you notice something weird start happening you can revert back to 1.4.7 as i've left the patch for it up.

Are you stuck at, like, right after where the labyrinth gates open up? And the black rabbit says something along the lines of 'rule breakers like you aren't allowed past these gates'? If so, (and you got Mysterian as your class) you unfortunately cannot use that avenue to progress, you must instead backtrack to BF5 and march into the central courtyard (Ferdinand) where you'll meet Lilim, who will give you the key to progress. Apologies if this message finds you too late and you already figured it out lol

Games really cool! The 3d map runs a little slow on my potato laptop but its not unplayable.
This game is fantastic. As a seasoned EO player it’s a real treat to see not just the more complex labyrinth designs, but party composition. Feels like I’m back in the Schwarzwelt with Ness and the Elrics.

Does anyone know how Knives/Katanas work? do they scale off different stats than swords? and if so do skills take that into account?
Knives and Katanas both scale off of strength. Testing the basic attacks and skills of the "SwordTech" and "RogueHand" programs between a character with 4 strength and a character with 20 strength always yielded marginally higher numbers for the character with 20 strength.
I did these on both a katana and a knife with a base weapon attack of 12. The base attack of the weapon also has a pretty significant role in the damage as well.

You're welcome! I also think I should add that I believe the skills themselves scale only off of your strength and the base attack of the weapon. The weapon type itself doesn't seem to modify the damage of skills themselves from what I could tell. Example would be, using a sword, katana, or even a knife with a base attack of 9 and then using the skill "Technical Slash" shows roughly the same damage variances.
Man, Alchemy is a beast. I foolishly started up a google spreadsheet to try and tract certain combos and general stat gains but it is quite intense. I applause you, Dataerase, for such a ridiculously fun game <3 I'm having a blast!

Slowly chunking away at the Alchemy. The main thing I'm trying to figure out is if Legendary Ingredients can be extracted or if they are only for getting rare items. I've extracted 12 Turnips so far (Root.dat on head, Soil.dat on body) and I've mostly gotten X.Reanimator.i, rarely Upgrade.i and super rarely Healing Chain.i.
Needless to say, I've been reloading a ton to work on this. I'm still only at the beginning of Alchemy as well since I have very little time with work. Once I understand more about how Alchemy works, I'll probably post the Spreadsheet. Never really done anything like this before but I do like it quite a bit.
@Dataerase, if you could let me know if it is possible to extract Legendary Ingredients, I would appreciate it. For now, I'm moving forward and leaving the Turnips alone.
Well even if its incomplete, if I get stuck would it be alright to ask questions? I was pretty close to restarting when my MC ended up being a purely passive support type that cant even basic attack correctly but im perservering.
Of course but I'm not very far into the game personally. I've found that it is best to set up the MC as a support caster. Getting Priest.prg for the basic 3MP heal and then a weapon prg. I found the Mischief.bow early on while climbing up to the first boss which has a pretty darn good chance of confusing foes. She wasn't doing much damage but that confuse saved me more times than I can count. Later on, once I had access to shops that could sell better, more specialized prg I bought ArrowSpec.prg and have been golden.
I have put almost all points into Int and Tec to get to 20 to have the ability to buy all her Oracle abilities. If your MC is an Oracle, that is what I recommend. After that, all in on Agi. While leveling, always divert one of three points into either HP or MP. I highly recommend having all dolls at 50HP before the first boss but definitely before the second midboss as they hit like a truck and you don't want to be like me and have to spend 500K on replacement Reanimator.i. A very costly mistake on my part.
If you can, I recommend using some kind of weapon that does status effects such as Mischief.bow or SinnerKnife.ktn as these can help your actual damage dealers hit hard. The unfortunate thing about the MC Doll is that at least at the beginning(depending on if you got Oracle, Mysterian or the third one I've yet to get after the beginning 20 questions) is that all your abilities are based around knowledge of the Labyrinth. Oracle for Foe knowledge in battle and Mysterian for Map knowledge. Unless you go pure stat boosting(Str with ktn or swd, Int with Magician.prg(very strong boss melter imho)) you will be regulated to support for those who clean up basic mobs such as Knight, Paladin, Cyborg, Witch, ect..
I don't have as much time to play as I'd like, I work overtime hours right now to pay the bills, but I'll try to compile as much info as I can. I've somehow become obsessed with this game.
Any Transmutation that results in a Legendary (cannot be bought or found off enemies ie: Turnip) cannot be extracted into a .dat, it will always give you a rare file.
If you do end up creating a chart for synergies and transmutations I would love to see it.
It is by no means professional and I am not the best with google spreadsheets but I will clean it up sometime this week and post it. I'll be slowly adding to it. Right now I'm at 313/484(roughly 64%) of just Head/Body Linear Channel Ritual. I've been experimenting with Extraction as well, trying to find the hard percentages of Sync Stats and Item Extraction. You have no idea how much time you saved me, so I really do thank you Dataerase. I think I did close to 50 Turnip Extractions and was wondering if I was just extremely unlucky. Not uncommon for me as my drop rates on Monster Hunter games is horrid.
Now that I know Legendaries are not able to become .dats that makes experimenting with them quite interesting. I'm curious to see if they are only good for Extraction or if some really interesting Synch alchemy stats can be found.

I've been having trouble getting alt+enter fullscreen to work. Anytime I do it the screen just goes black before the game window minimizes, and I have to alt+enter to switch it back to be able to play or do anything.
If anyone can offer any advice or such, I'd really appreciate it, thank you! No one was able to help on the discord so far.
I personally have been using a rescaler tool called 'Magpie resizer'. Seems to work very well for fullscreen, since it doesn't entirely change your monitor resolution any time you enter fullscreen and you can alt tab freely.
(Bit of a roundabout solution but it works)
Thanks for this recommendation! Magpie does a great job of upscaling the window without the issues of fullscreen.

Quick question – is there MacOS/Linux support for the game? It’s OK if not, I’m just wondering since I can only see file names, so I’d need to know if I have to be on Windows to play the game.
I keep forgetting to click the checkbox whenever I upload a new version. It's a WIN only game but a couple of my testers have been able to get it running in WINE before (Linux mostly) if you want to fool around with that?
Am I missing something about how controllers work? I have an 8bitdo Ultimate 2C but it does not seem to want to work in the game. Running the game through Steam with SteamInput kind of works, but the buttons are all jumbled up. I can possibly figure out a workaround, but figured I'd ask!
Ive been using a PS5 controller and Ive noticed that unless my controller is already plugged in when opening the game it wont read its imputs. As for jumbled up controls if you press F1 you can rebind them

late reply, but honestly? Not sure, logged like 6 hours into it by now, with none of it afk and I'm still pretty early-ish into the game so if you do get it you're in for quite the ride (a pleasant one though, to be sure. my experience with the game has been exclusively brilliantly positive)
it seems that every time i reload a quicksave the next combati get into crashes the game and undoes said quicksave. not sure if there's something in particular causing it?

Wondering if I've found a bug here. Found a way to Blackbox E, started exploring. I'm in a segment where there's one-way doors to my north and south (I'm on the wrong side of both). There's theoretically a tile two west of that north door that looks like I should be able to step onto it, but I can't (either moving straight into it, backing into it, or strafing). Since the area is warp sealed, not sure what else I can do now, so I quicksaved and quit out.
This sounds like a bug. I can take a look at it tomorrow and make a fix sometime in the coming days. Out of curiosity, did you get the first Tool before encountering Blackbox E?
I did not get a tool yet, no, found it when secret hunting. If it helps you troubleshoot I can send over the quicksave file.
