Cooperation between SGL Carbon and X-energy SGL Carbon supplies graphite components to X-Energy Reactor Company for four small, modular Xe-100 reactors with a total volume of around USD 100 million. X-energy's first project is being built in collaboration with Dow, Inc. in Texas (USA).   SGL Carbon and X-energy have also entered into an agreement to reserve additional capacity for a second X-energy project. The Advanced Energy Facility in Washington State (USA) is a planned facility with 12 Xe-100 units in collaboration with Amazon and X-energy.   Andreas Klein, CEO of SGL Carbon, met yesterday with X-energy CEO J. Clay Sell and said: "The signing of this agreement is a first milestone in the development of new applications for our products and our entry into a new market segment. X-energy is a pioneer in the development and manufacture of small, modular high-performance reactors for energy generation and has done groundbreaking work in recent years. JEC Innovation Award for Natural Fiber Composites Project 🏆 SGL Carbon and the BMW Group were honored with the JEC Innovation Award 2026 in the “Automotive & Road Transportation – Parts” category for the “BMW M Natural Fiber Composites” project. This annual award recognizes the most innovative and ambitious collaborative projects in the composites industry. SGL Carbon is involved in the project through the development and manufacture of pre-impregnated materials made from flax fiber fabric. At our German sites in Meitingen and Willich, we have developed our own resin and prepreg system which improves the durability, visual quality, and processability of natural fiber composite materials by overcoming their typical moisture sensitivity. 2025: A Year of Focus and Innovation ✨ 2025 challenged us, but it also sharpened our strategic direction. We concentrated on the areas where SGL Carbon creates the most value, focusing on technologies that enable lighter, cleaner, and more efficient solutions. Throughout the year, we advanced key initiatives across our portfolio, including TaC coating, high-performance prepreg materials, and our BSCCB expansion. We strengthened our role in energy innovation by providing components for redox-flow systems and by delivering the largest HCl Synthesis Unit. At the same time, we expanded our work with natural fibers, supported cleaner industrial processes with our water treatment solutions, and received the prestigious Ford Q1 Award. None of this progress would have been possible without the dedication of our teams and the trust of our partners and customers worldwide. By 2025, we had made significant progress in embedding sustainability into our processes, partnerships, and corporate responsibility initiatives. We have received the Bronze Medal from EcoVadis, recognizing our commitment to sustainability across environmental, social, and ethical dimensions. We increased our use of renewable energy usage by expanding photovoltaic (PV) installations and securing our energy supply with certified green power.
