New resources series – review my learning

Essential resources for key chemistry topics

The new Review my learning resources are now available, and are a fantastic way to revisit, refine and review concepts that learners may be finding challenging. This set of worksheets, centred around topics requested in our PD survey and scaffolded for three levels of students aged 14–16, allow teachers to check their understanding in key chemistry topic areas.

The first four topics in this series are:

  • Acids and bases
  • The particle model and states of matter
  • Quantitative chemistry
  • Chemical bonding

The worksheets can be used in a variety of ways, such as pre- and post-teaching assessment, as revision tools, or as a refresher exercise. They have been written and developed in consultation with teachers from the Schools in challenging circumstances (SiCC) project and the model has been developed from a template and idea based on the EEF Seven simple rules, which aim to build learning independence. If you find them helpful, or have a unique way you have incorporated them into your classroom, please let us know!

Help your 11–14 students read the periodic table

Make sure your students know how to find elements, groups and periods with Education in Chemistry’s periodic table poster, fact sheet and classroom activities. The activities let your students walk in the footsteps of the chemists who constructed the modern periodic table, by sorting unknown elements into groups using their properties and descriptions.

Didn’t get the print issue with the poster to display in your classroom? Make sure you don’t miss out on the next one. Sign up to Teach Chemistry for free by 7 June to get the July print issue.
