It’s not too late to join in with Chemistry Week 2023

Chemistry Week (5–11 November) may be just around the corner, but it’s not too late to join the festivities – our collated resources should take the stress out of activity planning.

Throughout the month of November, we’re encouraging teachers to use our pre-prepared support to inspire their students and spotlight the impact that chemistry has across all aspects of society. Whether you need classroom activities or a slide deck for assembly, we’ve got you covered.

Connect your students with industry scientists

I’m A Scientist is a student-led activity that connects students with a diverse range of scientists from different specialisms and backgrounds. Students get to read profiles of scientists working in different careers and then chat to them in 30 minute energetic text-based online Chats.

A previous participant said ’Today’s chat was fantastic. The class were so enthusiastic and full of excitement after the chat finished. I had one child decide he wants to be a physiologist and another who has decided that a career in science is their way forward.’

Are you a catalyst for better chemistry teaching?

Have you seen an opportunity to develop the chemistry teaching provided at your school or in your local area? The Chemistry Teaching Empowerment Fund can help you.

Successful applicants receive £600 (€690) towards developing techniques or collaboration among the chemistry teachers in their local authority. This might be the help you need to see your peers gain better skills and experience with teaching practical sessions or simply help those in hard-to-reach areas connect with each other more easily.
