Join RSC’s ‘Early career science mentor’ pilot training program
We are seeking ECT mentors across England to take part in this pilot program running from November to December 2024. This program addresses a critical gap in subject-specific support within the ‘Early Career Framework’, equipping mentors with the skills to provide targeted guidance in secondary science education. The pilot includes four self-paced online modules and optional discussion forums. If this is of interest to you or someone you know please sign up or share the link with them.
Could an RSC accredited course help your student?
If your students are applying for a chemistry degree this year, they will probably already be spending a lot of time researching which course to study and where they want to go.
Our Find Accredited Degrees search tool makes it easy for you to guide students in finding high quality chemistry degree courses that will give them the skills they need for a successful future.
Physics Teaching: Basics to Brilliance
In partnership with Physics Partners, the Association for Science Education are launching a programme of 10 online physics subject-knowledge sessions spread over the year. Targeted particularly at non-specialists and early career teachers, these will delve into core physics concepts for GCSE success. Modules can be booked singly or multiple sessions, with access to recordings. ASE members benefit from discounted rates.
All the information you need about T Levels in one new resource
T Level in Science is a new qualification that’s helping to develop the workforce of the future. But securing that all-important work placement can sometimes be a challenge.
That is why we have created this useful resource, Securing technical talent for your business, working in partnership with the Royal Society of Biology, Institute of Physics, Institute of Food Science and Technology, Cogent, the Science Council and the Gatsby Foundation.
Based around case studies from science employers who already offer placements, this resource introduces the T Level in Science to employers, explains the benefits of placements and will prove a useful support for conversations with employers and gaining placements for your students.
University of Exeter – call for teachers
Are you an experienced chemistry teacher teaching students aged 14–16?
The University of Exeter has an opportunity for you to take part in a research study exploring your views about the different versions of the science National Curriculum.
You will need to have 25+ years science teaching experience or 20+ years and extensive engagement with an organisation like the RSC or ASE. Taking part would involve a 1-hour interview with the lead researcher, Vicky Wong, from the University of Exeter.
