It's possible to play alone if you install the game on two computers. Not the best experience, since the game is designed for two players, but definitely doable.
Why not play with your mother? I think you'd both have a lot of fun :)
I'm not very good in puzzle games on my own, as I'm not the brightest mind, but we had an amazing time with my bestie playing this game! I never encountered a co-op puzzle game before, but now I think I need more of this. Definitely play with someone you are close with, so you understand each other well. I can't wait to play the whole series! 💜
