I have been a big fan of draw.io since at least 3 years ago, when I discovered it for school.
The arrow/connector snapping behavior used to be very simple and intuitive:
The arrows would naturally have the least waypoints necessary.
The arrows would maintain a balanced distance from all surrounding shapes, without intersecting them.
The arrows would easily snap to the nearest edge, even if it wasn't a connection point.
After snapping to an edge, the arrows could be easily moved along that edge like a magnet.
The arrow would always maintain an arrowhead perpendicular to the edge it was attached to.
If the arrow end was specifically selected and moved, it would snap to a connection point eventually, but that was not mandatory.
Today, none of these behaviors is valid anymore. The arrows snap to connection points almost exclusively, which is not ideal. Especially if the shape doesn't have many connection points, or if they are not placed optimally.
As an example, I tried making a sequence diagram with a C-shaped connection (process talks to itself). As of right now, it is absolutely impossible to do that with a regular connector arrow. The arrow keeps snapping to the middle of the sequence object shape.
I have done right-click - Add a waypoint, but that only worked once, creating a right angle. A second try does not allow bringing the arrowhead back towards the object shape.
As for arrow shapes, there is no C-shaped arrow shape, so that doesn't work either.
It is not only difficult, but actually impossible to draw what I am trying to draw, which isn't such an unusual case in a sequence diagram.
Does anyone have a comment? Am I doing anything wrong? Is there any way to use draw.io to do what I am trying to do?
