From #160

ikhal seems to re-scan the whole calendar (or do some other inappropriate task) when saving an event. This freezes the whole UI.

Another technically unrelated problem I've found is that creating an event with infinite daily recurrence takes an extremely long time.

I cannot actually reproduce this, how long a freeze are we talking about here?
