Prima Nocta is a dying world shaped by ancient gods, ruled by four elemental kingdoms, and now spiraling toward ruin. Once blessed by divine artifacts and guided by the mighty Praetors—avatars of the Elementals—the kingdoms thrived in uneasy harmony. But the Praetors have fallen, the shadows have risen, and the world now teeters on the edge of annihilation.
This is the age in which your story begins.
From the union of Lady Nocta in the darkest Deep and the Lightbearer Aun came the first Elementals—Helios, Prima, Mira, and Anu—and eventually the God Natuîn, the Green Horn, whose bellowing horn birthed the Naturil and Fae.
The Elementals created the Enlightened Races: Helios created Mankind, Mira bore the Myr, Prima the Dwarves, and Anu the Elves. Each race was gifted a sacred Artifact: water to make the Myr immortal, fire to unite mankind, air to raise the spirit of elves, and earth to protect the dwarves.
Peace, discovery, and conflict shaped the early ages as kingdoms formed and shadows grew—Orcs, Goblins, Dragons, and other dark reflections of creation. Alliances rose and fell, and eventually the Demi Council was formed, led by the Praetors, mighty avatars chosen by the Elementals to shepherd their creations.
The Praetors vanished without warning. The Link to the Gods was broken, yet the Artifacts remained. The Demi Council gathered the greatest mages, warriors, and scholars to find them.
Their grand quest was launched from Ichthyss, The Pearl Crown, a once-great Myr capital cresting the Sindin Sea and home to ancient Myr and Illithyri. Over fifty-five Cycles, they sought a portal to reach the Praetors, aided by Candle Clerics, Dwarven Runecallers, and the last Winged Elves.
The Quest of Portals failed. Ichthyss lies in ruin, the elites are gone, and the Praetors remain missing. With the Demi Council broken, the kingdoms prepared for war as the shadows rose.
An Age and twelve Cycles after the Disappearance, war erupted across Prima and raged for twenty-one Cycles. Every kingdom gave way to greed, envy, racism, and fanaticism. Shadows surged—Orcs, goblins, gnolls, werewolves, scorpiins, raging elementals, undead—and even dragons sought to capitalize on the chaos.
Amidst the turmoil, four heroes were born on the day the war began, each from one of the Enlightened Races and humble origins. Together they performed the magic rite known as The Resurrection, returning the Praetors and forcing a tenuous peace.
Exactly sixty-six Cycles after The Resurrection, to the very hour, the Praetors fell to a dark sickness.
During this Cycle, the Praetors succumbed fully to corruption. Their massive avatar forms twisted into grotesque horrors, and their once-beneficial magic turned poisonous. The Artifacts mirrored this sickness, warping alongside their bearers.
Every kingdom faced civil war as some resisted the corruption and others embraced it. Chaos swept over Prima, more sinister than the Great War, touching every form of life.
The Praetors are corrupted. The Demi Council is disbanded. The kingdoms are warring. The shadows are rising. All of Prima is descending into chaos and death. All hope seems lost.
Yet the Fae, mysterious and transient, are not standing idly by. Without a Praetor, they commune directly with Natuîn and open a portal at the base of Yggdrasil. From there, the sheltered Fae reach out through time, seeking those brave souls who might take up their quest:
A quest to slay the Praetors. A quest to save the world.
