a tiny update.

I've been using firefox for who knows how many years. 15? 20? I never even considered using a different browser (partly because of being lazy). Not until seeing options for "Ai enhancements": "Solo AI Web Site Creator", "Allow AI to read the beginning of the page and generate key points".

Knowing that there's now ai somewhere in this box makes it so I can never trust it again. After not thinking about it, security updates are important, I've disabled automatic updates for the first time. Hopefully it's possible to skip any ai related bs and only run security updates.

well anyways, I'm not here to say which technology is superior, I tried doing this: https://bsky.app/profile/sundogscoops.bsky.social/post/3m6xzutw4w224 and firefox runs so, so much faster. I still don't trust firefox as of now, I hope they will sit down and think about what they've done, but it runs faster at least. Hopefully it restricts some ai bullshit as well, I don't notice any functionality compromise. A conclusion that was so satisfactory for me I decided to share it with others in the hopes of brightening somebodyelse's day who didn't yet see this at least a little.
