Damn The Gods is a game about rebellion against oppression.  You are a spark bearer, a mortal who has acquired a spark of power, power that manifests as a divine engine of war, a Godbreaker Colossus. You will use this mech alongside human ingenuity and spirit to overthrow the divine oppressors.

To play this game, you will need:

  • Some way of keeping notes, such as paper, phone, or tablet
  • one set of RPG dice, specifically d4, d6, d8, d10.  But two sets would be the best, so you don't need to roll one die multiple times.
  • a coin or another way to track ability usage per scene

Oracle System

This system uses two dice to represent the dual nature of every Spark-Bearer: their Mortal capabilities and their Spark of stolen divine power.

Mortal Die: Your human skills, training, and physical condition
Spark Die: Your stolen divine essence and supernatural power

Both dice start at d6 and can range from d4 (broken/drained) to d10 (transcendent).

Making Rolls

When you attempt something with an uncertain outcome, whether it's attacking, defending, or anything else you imagine, do the following:

  1. Roll both your Mortal and Spark dice
  2. Identify the Impact and Price of the roll
  3. Interpret results using the Oracle ranges

Reading the Oracle

The Oracle speaks through both dice.  The highest rolled die is the Impact, and the Lowest rolled die is the Price.

The Impact: The primary outcome of your action. The ranges for the Impact die as as follows: 1-2 failure, 3-4 success at a cost, 5-6+ complete success.

The Price: Complications, costs, or unintended consequences. The ranges for the Price die are as follows: 1-2 major scene complication, 3-4 personal complication, 5-6+ complete success.
