今回は定性調査リサーチャーの菅沼まどかさんがエスノグラフィー調査の基本について話します。エスノグラフィー調査はUXリサーチでも使われる定性調査の手法の一つです。エスノグラフィー調査の基本、長所・短所、やるべきこと・やってはいけないこと、特にエスノグラフィー調査がどんな状況に向いているかなどについて話します。プレゼンテーションの後、参加者はグループに分かれてお互いにインタビューの練習をします。

In this talk, qualitative market researcher Madoka Suganuma will give you an introduction to ethnographic research which is a methodology used in UX Research as part of qualitative research. She will talk about the basics of ethnographic research, pros and cons, dos and don’ts and in what situations ethnographic research is suitable for. After the presentation, we will split into groups and do practice interviews on each other.

About Madoka Suganuma | 菅沼まどかについて

デプスインタビュー、エスノグラフィー、オンライン調査、トレンド調査、セミオティクス（記号論）、市場調査関連の翻訳、トランスクリプトの作成、分析等を主に飲料・食品、化粧品、ヘルスケア などの分野で行い、多岐に及ぶ様々なプロジェクトに携わる。最近はデザインリサーチ、UXリサーチと定性調査との手法の間に相通じるものがあることからこれらの分野に興味を持つようになった。 国際基督教大学で国際関係学とコミュニケーション学を学び、大学在学中から日英翻訳に携わる。その後市場調査業界で働き、2013年からはフリーランスで定性市場調査を続けている。 東京生まれ。日本と８カ国の国々を往復しながら育つ。この経験は様々な言語や文化に触れるだけでなく、日本人であるということの意味についても考える機会となった。

Madoka is a freelance qualitative market researcher that enjoys working on a variety of projects including in-depth interviews, ethnography, online research, trend research and semiotics as well as market research based translation, transcription and analysis, in topics such as food & beverages, beauty and healthcare. Recently she has been keen to learn more about design research and UX research as many of the methodologies overlap with qualitative market research. Madoka studied International Relations and Communication Studies at International Christian University in Tokyo. She started working as a translator while at university, and then moved into market research. She has been working on a freelance basis as a qualitative market researcher since 2013. Madoka was born in Tokyo and grew up moving between Japan and 8 other countries. This gave her an unique opportunity to not only pick up languages and learn about cultures, but also a chance to examine what it means to be a Japanese person.
