At 60, HS Sureshchandra’s learning journey is a powerful reminder that curiosity has no age limit. 🎓A former COO of QUEST who once led nearly a thousand engineers, Sureshchandra already had a Bachelor’s degree from RV College of Engineering, a Master’s from BITS Pilani, an MBA from IIM Bangalore, and a PMP certification. Yet, he chose to keep learning. 📚His journey with NPTEL began in 2007, when he discovered the platform during his Master’s at BITS Pilani. Years later, in 2017, NPTEL became a way for him to reconnect with the technical foundations he valued — this time through the discipline of assignments, exams, and what he calls “positive stress.” ⏰From waking up at 3:30 a.m. to study to turning hotel rooms during work travel into classrooms, Sureshchandra made learning a consistent part of his life. Over nine consecutive years, he appeared for NPTEL exams almost every semester, earning more than 20 first-rank positions along the way. 🏆His achievements include scoring 98/100 and securing first rank in Entrepreneurship Essentials, earning a Domain Certification in Data Science, and topping 6 out of 8 exams in a single semester in 2026. With this, he earned the NPTEL Megastar recognition and completed every Star recognition offered by NPTEL. 💡But for Sureshchandra, NPTEL was never simply about certificates or rankings. It was about staying connected to knowledge, challenging himself, and discovering the potential that still remained within him. ✨From being mistaken for a parent at exam centres to sitting for exams alongside learners half his age, his story beautifully proves that learning doesn’t have an expiry date. At 60, Sureshchandra’s message is simple yet powerful: there is far more potential in each of us than we allow ourselves to discover. Karthikeyan's journey is a reminder that curiosity has no age limit. 🎓 Serving as Vice Principal and Head of the PG & Research Department of Commerce at Vivekananda College, Tiruvedakam, Madurai, Dr. K. Karthikeyan discovered NPTEL in 2019 after reading about a student who had completed 15 courses. Inspired by that story, he enrolled in his first course—and five years later, he has successfully completed 40 NPTEL courses while balancing teaching, research supervision, and administrative responsibilities. 📚 Every course became more than just a certificate. He applied research methodology courses to mentor PhD scholars, used accreditation courses to prepare his institution for NAAC assessment, and actively encouraged students and faculty to embrace continuous learning through NPTEL. 💡 His impact extended beyond the classroom. Through his college's NPTEL chapter, he helped establish a CSR initiative that reimburses examination fees for students who successfully complete their courses, making quality education more accessible and rewarding for learners. 👨👦 His passion for learning also inspired his own family. From writing an NPTEL examination alongside his son to encouraging him to pursue the IIT Madras BS Degree in Data Science and Applications alongside his regular engineering degree, Dr. Karthikeyan proved that learning is best led by example. ✨ For Dr. K.
