How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
It's a game boy game through and through

It's a start, but it's a big ask to make a system similar to Pokemon like that for a game jam. I hope you get to spend more time developing it, because it is really cool, but I also wish you luck because I know how hard it is to set this up.
A nice start, I hope you keep going and I’m curious to see what the game will become.
neat start - I like the main music theme in this game quite a bit. Obviously this is very Pokemon-esque but I like where you're headed with it, and I respect the sheer scale you were going for here!
it’s always better to submit something short or even unfinished than to miss the deadline on a jam. Honestly this seems more suited as a passion project than a Jam submission IMO. It’s very derivative, which is fine, there are obviously lots of games influenced by PKMN but the use of assets from those games breaks the spirit and rules of the jam. There also seems to be an issue of scope but that’s always the hard part of a Jam even when you start with a “small” concept.
I do like that it runs on GB and there were some cool features, I was also very charmed by that light switch.
aw yeah I appreciate it. I am going to try to keep working on this beyond the jam, I have some cool ideas in the works to separate the game out and make it a little less derivative such as making the abilities mana based rather than the power point system. I will definitely be thinking of more systems like that to keep the feel but make enough changes to make a unique experience
Great job given the time you had! However, it was a project too ambitious to be fully completed. I really liked the detail of being able to turn the lights on and off.
I appreciate it! I originally wanted to get to the first boss and then after it a rock would fall on the character haha. But yeah the scope got a little crazy coding the fights and I just don't have the time/energy to bang it out in the allotted game jam time. I hope to keep it as a passion project because I had a lot of fun.
You went REALLY ambitious for a gamejam! I can see what you were going for (watch out for stray lawsuits. That's all Im gonna say...), and what is here is decent. My advice would be to scope down your project. Other than that, the thing that stood out the most to me was the light switches. It was a total surprise when I interacted with it, and that surprise brought be a bit of joy; Like being a kid and finding an Easter egg in your favorite game.
I appreciate it, I am glad you like the lights! I bit a bit more than I could chew, the battle system took a lot of time for me! I hope to continue to work on it as a passion project. I plan on making enough changes to separate the game as its own thing one idea I have already is implementing a mana system for the abilities rather than power points. Lots to think about and work on!
I hope you guys like it, I didn't have time to clean it up more and add more content but I wanted to submit something.
