I feel like this is an amazing idea, but that just doesn't quite work - which really is what gamejams are for. Personally, I felt frustrated just trying to make two loops go together in level 2 already. Having the game work on a "turn timer" or something like that, would make the game more palatable to me. I enjoy optimization and setting it up, but that also felt a little stressful with a timer ticking away. That shouldn't take too much away from this game, because this is really impressive for 4 days, and you should be proud.
would like option to change from WASD to arrow keys (I use mouse lefty)
Hey! you dropped by stream a few days ago and i've got around to playing your game! - In regards to your feedback request about the movement being clunky, I'm afraid I'd have to agree. A full WASD control (which seems to have a priority over-ride as well as a ban on diagonal movement? Feel like an Else-if was used instead of an if somewhere?) ended up causing frustration when trying to line up loops consistently Especially with a timer counting down making mistakes feel extra punishing. I think that a directional, grid system where the players location could be refined and rounded to consistent positions to make loops feel more calculated would have been a huge boon to this otherwise amazing concept and idea!
Thanks you very much for playing and thanks a lot for the feedback, will take it into consideration
Such an amazing entry! Your mechanics are on point and I loved the intractable tutorial! It really gave me the space to understand all the steps and imagine the possibilities! The little cheff animations are lovely!
So cool it all works! the green indicator when the loop is done perfectly, the extra SFX accompanying the whole thing, really adds a lot. I started laughing in LVL2 when I first had to interact with 2 cheffs, and it was so funny how I thought I had everything figured out, only to have one guy take plates to the cutting board and leave empty dishes on the dispensers :D The complexity rose level by level, and I have to applaud your choice to allow us players to choose and try all the levels from the get go! An amazing entry, congratulations on all levels!
Thank you very much for playing, means a lot
thanks for coming over and trying my general first, otherwise I would have missed yours!
Really lovely experiment, and the implementation of the loop mechanic is interesting for sure! I feel like you become a little disengaged when you're observing the loops happen, but I can see how fiddling with them can become interesting after a while - especially with multiple workers.
Thank you very much for playing, looking forward to watching more of your streams
It looks really cool! Good job on this game! :)
Thank you very much for playing, means a lot
No problem! I'd also love to see your opinion on my game!
good job
thanks a lot!
Love the art and concept!! Great work!
Thank you <3
Good concept and great implamentation! Good work ma dude!
Thanks!
No clue how you managed to fit all of this into just 4 days, but congrats on a great entry. It feels very satisfying to optimize the routine as much as possible. The tutorial felt mandatory, as I was a bit confused jumping straight into the game and had to go back to learn the mechanics. I would even go further and make the tutorial mandatory to prevent rushy players like myself from skipping over the core concepts. The game is cute, fun, and fits the theme perfectly. Well done!
Thanks for playing, means a lot. Yes agree it would be better if the mechanics and controls were taught through the levels, didn't have enough time for that sadly. Looking forward to checking out your game when I have time. seems interesting
Really like this take on the theme (also love cooking games so might be biased), well done! Flash-game vibes that I'm sure I'd spend hours on when those were still around.
Didn't even think about it like a flash game, but now I see it and totally agree that it has that vibe. Thanks for playing, means a lot, will check out your game as well
Love the concept! The audio was a little draining though
Thank you very much for playing means a lot. Yup the sound design was the last part we did :D
The art is really dope, and a really cool concept. I love a good cooking game!
Thank you very much, means a lot
damn this was hard
really good take on the theme
Thanks for playing, means a lot. Agree the difficulty curve is pretty steep, needed like 35 second recording to beat the 4 level myself.
I enjoyed this a lot. Having to manage the timing of your chefs is a nice touch, and makes it a lot more satisfying when you get it right. The tutorial could be tightened up a bit and worked into the first couple levels, but I'd definitely play more of this.
Thanks for playing, means a lot. Yup the tutorial is pretty bad, still very happy you enjoyed it
A beautiful blend between SpaceChem and Overcooked. It took me a shameful amount of time to grasp the tutorial but after I got it, it was a really enjoyable experience. I found the audio pops randomly when looping, and it would be really nice to have the option to "speed up" your automated assembly line once all recordings are playing. Really great game.
In your defense the tutorial is not very good :D Totally agree on the speed up would make the game more enjoyable, although did see some people liked just watching the animations play. Thank you for playing, means a lot
Great art and gameplay but tbh I don't really understand the need for recording when you can do it manually. Maybe I'm just an idiot but oh well. Good stuff
You get more score when using recordings and you can do actions with multiple chefs at once. Thanks for playing
Very solid submission! I loved what you did with the theme. I did find a dupe glitch if you make a dish with something that a different chef is holding then it duplicates it. The art was really good, and the music. Great job
Finally someone broke the game :D Thanks for playing, means a lot <3
I've always wanted to play Overcooked without friends.
Jokes aside, this could be really great if the controls were less finicky.
As others have said, I think grid based and time steps are the way to go.
Or alternatively, some more precise input, or maybe slowing down/speeding up time for finer control over your loops.
Thanks you very much for playing
Really clever gameplay, I was really amazed to try this one out!
Thanks, loved the stream
