It’s brilliant, I could play it for hours! You took the sliding and merging of 2048 and made a really fun roguelike. The game loop is great. I liked discovering what two tiles merge into. The game feels balanced, not too easy but not too hard.
It would be nice to have a way to see merges discovered and achievements obtained.
It has a lot of potential, with more classes, items and monsters. Great submission, good job!
The best one so far, congrats! It's amazing in every aspect!
Really unique gameplay. I was a little confused at first, but after a couple of runs I started understanding things. I never did manage to make a potion, but got excited when two heroes were on the map at once. Similar to what other people called out, the pause for animations (in between rounds) took me out a bit.
Impressive take I hadn't thought of combining items and enemies on a tile board before! Nor was I expecting to combine enemies with items by mistake :(((. Great idea and it makes every playthrough unique. Thanks for making this game!
This game is so good. Great polish, and the risk vs. reward aspects when clearing the board vs. finding ways to accumulate points + potions makes each run exciting.
Even though there were in-game instructions (I maaay have only decided to read it a few runs in haha), it was fun learning what I could do through experimentation. Loved discovering the new monsters that could be forged.
Awesome job, and I'm glad you're motivated to keep going with it! There are so many different ways the game could grow (e.g. maybe spawning beefy monsters in the late game, introducing different levels with varying difficulty for progression, etc.), but I feel that the foundation you've shown already is really special, and super fun. Hope to see more :)
People saying this game is easy has me baffled because I could not make it past 2-3 stages.
Nonetheless it is a pretty cool idea and very well done. Nice job!
Oh this was very cool.
I really like the combination of puzzle game and RPG, the sliding felt smooth although as someone else mentioned it hangs in between moves a little too long to where it interrupts flow a little, still very fun regardless.
Also you tricked me, I thought this would be obtuse but it's very well designed with intuitive game play you can pick up immediately.
My one nitpick is I think it might lean too much on the easy side with how most the combinations lead to potions so I was never in danger of dying.
Nice work
Haha, the duality of gamers always fascinates me, as I was just sitting down trying to come up with ideas to make the game more intuitive and easier! I think really though, the biggest issue is that the difficulty curve is extremely steep in the first few levels, especially if you haven't learned yet how to play defensively (avoid making monsters upgrade that you're not strong enough to kill), but flattens out and becomes trivial in the late game after some hero upgrades.
Thanks for playing and for the feedback! I think I'll be releasing an update after the jam with some slight simplifications to the game flow, as well as a sped up and more consistent speed during turns.
A great mashup idea and a very polished implementation!
This game was really cool and I enjoyed each of the hero's unique abilities! I had a lot of fun playing this and the graphics and music combined were awesome. It also seems like there's a bit of a puzzle element to with how you choose to move and position yourself / your allies against your enemies. Really fun to play, and an interesting take on the theme. Well done!
Great game! The 2048 type mechanic mashup with a roguelike is such a good idea. The whole experience was charming, from the visuals to the sound to the gameplay.
Really cool submission! One of my favorite games so far from this jam that I've played. I wish there was a way to turn off the game "pausing" every few seconds as it seemed to disrupt the flow of the game a bit. But overall, really fun! Also the animations for the damage numbers and gold was very well done!
Thanks for playing and for the feedback! Just a quick clarification, if you could tell me more about the pausing you're experiencing? Was the game freezing up, or did you mean when the game pauses to play out an animation, or possibly when the tutorial pop-ups appear?
It was a combination of the tutorial pop-ups at the start, and then the game pausing to play out an animation. Both together just felt like a lot of stopping and starting. But the tutorial windows stopped popping up pretty quickly and I got used to the game pausing for the animations. It makes sense why it's needed so I rescind that bit of feedback haha
I do think some of the animations are a little too long (especially some of the death animations), so I need to go through and make them all a set length I think to make the turns flow better. I also probably don't have to wait for things like damage animations to move on to the next tile, and can just wait for them before moving to the next phase. I just didn't want to get into too much async stuff in a jam game since async is such a bug factory.a
Been playing this some more. I really do love everything about this game! It's really inspiring that you made it all within 9 days. It's really fun and the tutorial blurbs are actually really well done.
This game was so much fun. I enjoy 2048 and this was such a great take on it. It took a few runs to really get the hang of it, but even as I was just learning I was enjoying myself. The basic game mechanics were fairly simple and straightforward, but to really do well I had to take my time with it and plan my moves carefully.
The art was well done and fit the game nicely. I liked the animations in the tiles, it gave them personality. Having the sprites change direction based on which way you moved was a very nice touch.
It was a lot of fun finding different enemies and items based on different combinations. If you are considering doing more with this after the jam, it could be nice to have a list somewhere showing the combinations you discovered. There were a couple of monsters I got that I didn’t acknowledge what two things combined to make them, and I would have loved to have been able to look at an “unlocked” type list to learn so I could plan for the next run. I also wasn’t sure if there was a way to see your achievements after the pop up went away. Having a way to view all your achievements would have been a nice touch.
This game was a lot of fun and one I can see coming back to after the jam has finished.
Thanks for this great feedback! I think the response here has been pretty positive so far, so I likely will continue working on this game. A list of discovered combinations and achievements is a fantastic idea to prioritize!
Awesome game! The mechanism is deep and refreshing. The Visual and audio feedback is on point. It would be great if the font is a bit easier to read (maybe I’m just getting old lol)

This is definitely one that stands above the rest. A very interesting and surprisingly deep game reusing the 2048 control scheme in an unexpected and refreshing way.
Awesome submission! I really enjoyed seeing what monster/item would combine to make new stuff.
This is a really cool game mechanic! After a couple of runs I got used to how to play; it feels like you have to choose each move carefully. I like that you have the option of making things difficult for yourself at the start in order to get more rewards.
The music and art were great and feels like a really polished game. The only thing I'd say is that it can be quite complicated for the first 1 or 2 runs, so maybe a slightly longer tutorial could help. (also one tiny nitpick is that the level 1 bone seems to flip about its vertical axis when switching directions, but the other tiles don't do that.)
Overall I really liked this game, it's a super original idea and executed really well.
Oh also, I found the font a little hard to read sometimes
Thanks, this is great feedback! A decent tutorial is one of the hardest things to make in a jam game, but you're right it definitely falls a little short in explaining everything. I think all tiles should flip in the direction when moving, it's just that the bone is the least symmetrical, but I probably should disable it for the non-animated item tiles regardless.
Also very right about the font, I tried to use a small font since the game is low-res, but I think I should find another one that's got 1-2 more pixels to work with.
so fun and great use of the theme!! i love the little animated sprites inside the tiles. there are so many roguelites nowadays, but this one stands out and feels fresh. impressive to do that in a jam :o great game design, sound, art... everything!
An idea that seems simple (if you’ve played 2048 before) but given fun spins with hero classes, monsters combining, heal items, level improvements, … Plus, really well executed, with charming music and art, as well as engaging gameplay. This is really fun, great job!
Quite difficult but I really liked this, such a cool idea to turn a game like 2048 into a roguelite type thing, neat!
