  • A lovely rpg with tons of room to grow. The GDD was short and could have used more of a breakdown on how the main mechanics worked using visual screenshots or gifs (like the one on the submission page). The battle system could use some work but the style and flair of the encounter system was very unique and added a lot to the feel of combat. The main mechanic of 1hr to live could be expanded upon with the more detailed breakdown of the in game clock and the time mechanic as a whole. The Inventory could use some more info for how stats are applied and what attacks are affected by the upgrade. A great start, can't wait to see more of this!

Blob Island is a JRPG, except you have only one hour to live!
You wake up in a scary dungeon, where a mysterious hooded figure has injected you with slime. You only get one hour to find a cure before you succumb to your deadly infection, and turn into a blob!

You will sneak around enemies, or fight them for experience. Find hidden secrets, treasures and lore about the island.

Equip armor and weapons to give you an edge on the dangerous blob infected creatures that are attacking. Equipment also comes with a unique dedicated skill to use in battle. Build your character!

Controls-
WASD or Arrows - Move
Space or Z - Interact/Select
Esc, I or P - Inventory
Esc or X - Back

Please explain how your game fits the theme.
The game fits the theme of "Only One" because you only get one hour to find a cure. Each battle or rest takes away precious minutes, and the player must manage their time thoughtfully.
The player is constantly reminded of the one hour time limit via visual cues. The battles take place on a giant clock for example.
Another theme interpretation is you only have one party member. But you get to build your character with the equipment system, and level up stat points, so your playstyle can be unique from run to run.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Play with music on! I spent some time and love on it. (Also listen for the tick tocks in the overworld theme!)

Awesome game. Love the exploration and enemy encounter method you went with. It is also very challenging which I loved. The music is insane! Will def come back for more and give this game another shot. Great work to you and your team!

Fun little game, and for some reason I was a big fan of the bouncy walking animation. Maybe the music added to that charm as well. It's already pretty late but I think I'll check this out again tomorrow and see if I can beat it, it looks like you packed quite a bit in here in just 2 weeks, very impressive!

I enjoyed playing this game. Reminded me of a JRPG Star Tropics (NES) somehow. Limiting the time through battles is a clever idea, and it did cause me to avoid the random encounters even more.

I love the battle art, the 3d rotating disc is super cool, and the clock theme gives you a time running out feeling. I think the combat follows a normal setup for JRPGs, so thats good too. Combat menuing could be more precise. Still upset about the double miss on a 95% base accuracy into getting critted to lose my run. Will revisit and demolish game
