JW Foundation Experiences

STARRY NIGHT GALA

Held in September 2025, the Starry Night black-tie gala was a celestial evening of immersive experiences held at the NGV. Drawing over 400 of Melbourne’s most elite and influential people, the glamourous charity gala was a visually powerful, immersive evening inspired by Van Gogh’s Starry Night.

Each element of the event was designed to captivate the senses, while supporting children and families in need through ToyBox and Duchenne Australia. The deeply meaningful event featured curated gastronomy by Stephen Nairn (Omnia Bistro), Shane Delia (Maha Restaurant) and Lisa Van Zanten (Get Caked By Lisa), and unforgettable performances by the Australian Children’s Choir and violinist, Yena Choi.

BEYOND THE VEIL

Held in November 2024 at the historic Sophia Arcade in Melbourne, Beyond the Veil was held to launch the JW Foundation, whilst raising awareness for LifeChanger, a youth mental health charity committed to building resilience in young people across Australia. The event curated a private, candlelit dining experience with a bespoke menu by Atlantic Group, paired with an exclusive selection of Penfolds wines.

Limited to just 100 guests, each detail was thoughtfully designed. Roving entertainers engaged playfully with diners, whilst the venue was adorned with cascading drapes, towering cherry blossom trees, and candlelit pathways. From the moment guests arrived, they were greeted by the angelic harmonies of the Australian Children’s Choir, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening.

Financial and Charitable Disclosure Statement

Starry Night is a charitable event hosted by the JW Foundation, with ticketing jointly managed by the JW Foundation and Access Living Group.

In line with common practice for events of this nature, a portion of funds from ticket sales will be allocated to cover essential external costs. These include, but are not limited to, venue hire fees for the National Gallery of Victoria, payments to external event management providers, and fees for professional entertainers.

All funds raised during the event night—such as proceeds from auctions, donations, and any remaining ticket revenue not used for event costs—will be donated directly to the registered charity Toybox Australia. The JW Foundation will not retain any portion of these funds.

All internal operational costs associated with the JW Foundation (including staff, social media management, internal teams, and wages) will be personally funded by the Foundation’s founder, Mr. Jonathan Webber. The JW Foundation will not use any public or donor funds to cover these internal expenses.

At the time of this event, Toybox Australia is the sole registered charity recipient for Starry Night. While the JW Foundation is currently in the process of obtaining formal charitable status through the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), with legal assistance from HWL Ebsworth Lawyers, it will not solicit or accept public donations until its charitable status has been formally granted.

All proceeds raised during the event, including those received through auctions, digital payment terminals (e.g., EFTPOS), activations, or other donation channels, will be directed exclusively to Toybox Australia. These funds will not be collected or held by the JW Foundation at any time, nor will they pass through its internal financial systems.

For full transparency, the JW Foundation is willing to disclose a breakdown of all event-related costs upon reasonable request. Furthermore, to ensure ethical governance and to avoid conflicts of interest, the JW Foundation does not engage related entities, family members, or close personal contacts for any paid services in connection with the event.

We are committed to ensuring that 100% of all donations raised from the Starry Night event are directed to Toybox Australia, the designated charity partner for this initiative.
