Actually played for a bit, tried 2 pokemon out the second being Mawile (which is broken, more of that soon) and had a blast, the game is extremely entertaining, but I must say I kinda grew bored of it a bit since in my second run I beat the game, there's no easy way to understand half of what is happening other than damage and simple statuses like burn or poison, the rest are a mystery to me, anyway, since all the menus, stats and more are kind of hard to read or would be better with more info while hovering or something else, the main point is I had no need to invest any points in upgrades, I even encountered a shiny but I didn't notice until I saw my profile stats.
The game is fun, Mawile alone carries with crunch, fire punch, drain punch, there's nothing to it, the achievements making you play a lot of runs in the name of rng is not very rewarding either and now after beating the game I tried out the rest of the pokemon available, which I must say they are terrible, maybe I grew accustomed to Mawile's OP kit but I think that with a couple of tweaks the game could be one of the best games of the genre, sorry if I came out like a total hater, I actually enjoyed it and think very highly of this game, it just needs a little facewash and some tweaks in accurately telling the player all they need plus some improvements to the gameplay.

Hi! I've been playing PokéPath and PokéPlunder nonstop for a week. I saw your comment thinking about deleting this one, please don't! It's the perfect combo, idleing and roguelike ❤️ Your games are awesome dude

also, in poképlunder, I think it should show a message or some reward after beating every floor boss, just to feel there's a new floor and make it more rewarding :)

(+2)

I admit I find this game fun

(+1)

I’m glad you like it.

Since my tower defense went viral, I've been a bit anxious and have thought about deleting this game several times because I feel it's not up to the level of my other two games.

(+2)

I don’t mind a simple game in conjunction with the 2 supposedly complex games.

(+2)

I really do like this game, but the first two areas are just so punishing, I don't really have enough time to vary my playstyle outside of choosing between berries, potions, and money (money seems like the best longterm option... if I could get to the long term).

I find myself dying in the early game over and over and using the same strategy every time I use the same pokemon, save for rare runs where I get a good additional move. Decreasing the chance of seeing a Delibird items and more chance of getting a move or shop would go a long way. Seeing shops in area 1 would be a night and day difference I think.

You are right tbh

Why the Heracross pink? There are shinys in this game?

Yes!

(+1)

oo that's a cool mechanic! also love the game!

thanks you!

(+1)

Just letting you know there's 2 items labeled destiny knot

also if you do ever add any more pokemon I'd love to see exeggutor :D

Hi! I just checked it, and Weakness Policy was labeled as Destiny Knot.

Thanks a lot for pointing it out!

I’ll make a note about Exeggutor too :)

playing sableye shadow sneak seems to buff attack not speed

Oops, you’re right, I just fixed it.

Thanks!

I really want to keep playing this but my progress keeps randomly getting reset :(

Hi! Thanks for playing, and sorry about that.

Your progress is saved locally in your browser (using localStorage). This means that if you play in private/incognito mode, switch browsers, or clear your site data/cookies, your progress will be lost.

Some browsers, like Safari or Firefox with strict privacy settings, automatically delete local data when you close the browser or have automatic cookie cleaning enabled. That might be what’s causing the reset.

You can try disabling that, if none of the above seems to be your case, please let me know.

Hope that helps :)

That worked! Thank you and thank you for this awesome game! This has made slow days at work a joy and has literally made life better :)

I’m really glad it entertained you, and thank you very much for your message!

Hi! I don't know if that's OK, but I'm on a run with Croagunk, with learned Sludge Bomb (140% special, x5 poison, 4 stars, 2 cooldown), and I'm being offered to learn Sludge Bomb (155% special, x2 poison, 4 stars, 2/turn). Is that OK? Or is it a bug?

Great game btw, I'm fully addicted trying to get all the achievements

(+1)

Yess, sorry, that’s a naming bug.

It should be Sludge Wave and Sludge Bomb, but right now both are called Sludge Bomb.

I’m going to fix it asap, thanks for letting me know!

(+1)

Awesome! And btw, Toxic doesn't duplicate poison, it does a little bit more. Like x2.1 or something like that. Not complaining tho

Thanks! I’m going to try to fix that Toxic issue haha

(+1)

I just got bot upgrades for Sludge Bomb xD. The first one becomes 165%, x10 poison, 4 stars, 2/turn, and the later one becomes 155% spe, x6 poison, 3 stars, 2/turn;

(+1)

This game is addictive and very entertaining gg mate!

(+1)

I don't really know why this game hooked me so much, but I completed it.

The playable characters are fairly well balanced and have their own unique playstyle. Though Croagunk feels a bit under tuned. (did I play him wrong? I ended up spamming a strong move rather than using poison)

This game gets a lot easier after you buy stat boosts. Also Empoleon was my last achievement. I'm not sure what happened, maybe I just got unlucky ...

Hi! I’m really glad you completed my game, I hope you had fun!

Yes, it’s true that poison moves don’t scale too well when enemies have a lot of HP. I’ve slightly improved Croagunk poison move upgrades and added two new items to the game: Red Nectar, which applies 3 additional poison stacks each time poison is added, and Purple Nectar, which prevents poison stacks from decreasing at the start of the enemy’s turn.

As for Empoleon, that’s just bad luck haha, all enemies and bosses that belong to the same area have the same spawn rate, and Empoleon is 25%.

Thanks a lot for your comment and for playing! :)

Very nice updates!
1. Is there any build that revolves around defense? (Heal + Resistance + Counter)? I noticed a few moves/items that utilize Resistance but not a character (Shuckle hahaha).

2. Will there be more debuffs (Reduce ATT, SPA, SPD, AP), Stun, Sleep, Paralyze, Slow etc.? At the moment I just buff and spam the same sequences regardless of enemies, so it feels repetitive.

3. Will there be a fire build? To be fair the Erosion build played out a bit like Burn (in other roguelikes) to me.

4. Is there any pros of a stat-balanced build? I feel most builds are more efficient when focused on a single stat: Get a move with high percentage on a stat + Get moves/items that buff that one stat + Get heal/money from that output, then just Spam. Therefore moves that use multiple stats at low percentage such as Swift are not viable at all. This is compounded with the fact that there is only one Resistance (which I assume works against any move), making Att, Sp.Att, Spd just different appearances of the same thing.

(+2)

Hi! I wasn’t planning to update the game with more content, but I really liked your ideas about Shuckle and a stat-balanced Pokémon!

So I’ll make a small update and add Shuckle, Mawile, and Sableye as playable Pokémon, along with some new moves.

As for more debuffs like paralysis, sleep, etc., I don’t think I’ll add those for now since I’m not sure how to implement them properly into the game mechanics.

The update will be up in a few hours, thanks a lot for your feedback and ideas!

(+1)

Thank you Khydra for the update, I really appreciate your consideration of my comments. Debuffs such as paralysis can be losing AP (like your ice moves) or accumulative charge that leads to a stun (like a counterpart of the current Charge mechanism). To be fair, I am not a debuff kind of person myself, I prefer straightforward synergies such as buff & damage output, sometimes high-risk high-return playstyle.

Thanks to you for your support! I’ve just added the three new playable Pokémon in a testing phase, they might be a bit too strong or too weak, or there could be some bugs with the new moves since I haven’t had much time to test everything properly.

I’ll consider adding new mechanics in the future, as well as a combat balance update, since the game can get repetitive pretty fast once you find a good move combo. For now, I don’t think there will be any major updates besides bug fixes and balancing the three new Pokémon.

Honestly, I mainly made this game as a test to learn how to create a web game, since I had never done one before and wanted some practice for future projects hahaha (I made this game before, but I couldn’t adapt it to web because of itch.io limitations). But since I’ve received such nice feedback and seen that people are actually enjoying it, I decided to make this small update as a thank-you!

(+1)

Thank you so much for the updates, really. This game (and Pokemon Lithic Veiil) are really good games. You built them well and with very good intentions. These games are what I wished to play (a pokemon roguelike, and a pokemon macro manager) and you made them. Good luck for your future projects, I am sure they will go well!

If you ever come back to this game, please consider mapping the 8 moves to the keyboard. (1-8 would be nice). Thank you!

(1 edit) (+1)

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your kind words.

I've added keyboard controls, now you can use keys 1–8 for the moves and the spacebar to skip turns.

I think it’s a great quality of life improvement, thanks a lot for your feedback!

(+1)

I tried Shuckle, and won :)) very fun to play, especially with Ingrain stack.
Tried Sable, very interesting to juggle the 3 stats with mean look
Playing Mawile, very nice mechanism to go nomnomnom on the enemy to gain stat :)), if timed well, result in 49x3 = 147 stat through the whole game, quite a reward.

(+1)

I think Shuckle and Mawile were easy and fun to play (as well as Cacnea and Taillow) with straightforward synergy.
I think Sableeye can be modified as to have item to give a damage boost for having a more balanced base stat (Sum of difference from the average of ATT, SPA, SPD to each of those stats), scaling from 0.8x (unbalanced) to 1.3x (very balanced).

Is there an achievement for successfully Jaw Lock all 49 enemies hahaha.

(+1)

There are no achievements for the new Pokémon for now, but I appreciate the effort of eating all the enemies hahahah.

I like the item concept, I might add it if I can find an easy way to implement it and make the item’s description clear enough in just two lines of text.

lol

hehe

what? how? hahahah

(+1)

there is a bug
when the option comes to choose the ball u can click on it multiple times and it keeps on giving the benefits

Damn, thanks for letting me know! I just fixed it!

(+1)

Nice game, I beat the game with Cubone and Cacnea, and though I love Scyther, I haven't found a reliable way to push pass area 4. Perhaps adding healing options may help, such as items or map choice. Also for item management, I want to be able to skip berries (for money or health for example). Once I had a such a good run that I chose berry instead of health, and ended up maxing out the slots too soon with common berries.

(+1)

Hi! I just updated the game. Delibird now offers different potions (Potions, Super Potions, Hyper Potions, and Max Potions) that let you heal, and relics (Copper, Silver, and Gold) that grant gold, so you can choose your reward without taking up space in your inventory.

Thanks for your message!

(+1)

thank you so much for the wonderful update! I think it made the game much more complete :) thanks to the potions I could win with Scyther/Scizor and Pikachu. Also, I think Swords dance (and Nasty Plot?) description should be "Increase 1.2 Base Attack", as the current description sounds more like Increase 1.2 Current Attack".

(+1)

I’m really glad you’re enjoying the game!
You’re absolutely right about the descriptions, I’ve just fixed them.
Thanks a lot for your help!

Thank you for the quick update!

(+1)

also just won as Weavile, the move Trailblaze+ (upgraded) was OP

(+1)

Have 2 questions
1. How to complete evolution ? I reached almost end of 8 area (9 end), still no evolution done
2. What are shinies and where to find them ?

(+2)

You can evolve Pokémon by buying a specific item. When they evolve, they only gain 1 AP, so don’t expect a big improvement, it’s just a small easter egg. The items are as follows:

Pikachu - Thunder Stone

Cubone - Thick Club

Scyther - MetalCoat

Marill - Fresh Water

Sneasel - Razor Claw

Croagunk - Black Sludge

Riolu - Soothe Bell

Cacnea - Soft Sand

Taillow - Silver Wing

Shinies appear randomly with a 1/100 chance. They’re Pokémon with alternate colors and give extra money and points when defeated.

(+1)

thanks !
really good game (especially for pokemon lovers haha)

PIKACHU !!
Just needed 1 more attack to defeat the final boss

So close :C

(+1)

Very good game!
Crossing 4/7 area seems very difficult though
Earning money and points spending is also very hard

(+1)

Thanks for the feedback!

It’s true that earning points was a bit tedious, I've updated the game and increased the amount of points you get a bit

(+1)

Excellent game, it is a little bit too reliant on getting a healing move i have found, but having lots of fun either way, great job

Yeah, healing moves help a lot hahaha, thanks for playing! :)

(+1)

I Love this type os roguelike games. I won with Cubone and Riolu, they are so stronk. Try to get lifesteal attacks and you will destroy their assees!!

Thanks for playing ;)
