This month on October 24th from 4:30-6:30pm, join us for food, fun, and advocacy! We will be phone-banking together to call legislators in support of the RIFL Act. We will walk you through all the steps to calling, and we will have scripts ready to read from! For advocates in-person, we will meet on UChicago campus. For our virtual advocates, a link will be sent out closer to the event date. More about the RIFL act: Right now, firearm injuries cost Illinois between $18-20 billion per year for nearly 6,700 individuals shot or killed annually, yet firearm manufacturers pay nothing. Taxpayers, families, and businesses shoulder these costs through taxes and rises in insurance premiums. The RIFL Act will create a no-fault injury restitution fund—entirely funded by firearm manufacturers—to cover medical care, funeral expenses, and lost wages for victims and their families.
