What does it take to get fintech’s next billion users? At Tech Revolution Africa, the MD/CEO of Kuda MFB, musty Mustapha, sat down with Rosemary Aimankhu, CMO of MoMo from MTN, and the host of their session, Toyin Abioye, to answer that question from an operator’s perspective. Three things stood out in their conversation: resilience, convergence, and real value. In markets like ours, building for ideal conditions isn’t the way. Instead, we build backup systems for our backups. We collaborate across banks, telcos and fintech. And we focus less on flashy growth numbers and more on products people genuinely rely on. Because when incentives stop, only real value remains.

Beyond mere attention, African tech needs structure, standards and credible signals for global investors. That was the focus at the London Stock Exchange last week as the African Tech Index (AT50 Index) officially launched, with Babs Ogundeyi joining other industry leaders at the event. The index introduces a rules-based benchmark for African technology companies, aligned with international standards. It’s a practical step towards making African tech more transparent, measurable,  and investable. Introducing our first-ever Kuda Olympics! To celebrate our culture and deepen our bonds as Kuda tribe members, we traded our workstations for the playing field last Saturday. We split into 8 teams representing our different products to compete for gold and bragging rights. From the intensity of football matches, sprints and relay races to the strategy of chess and video games (plus the fun of sack races and table tennis), we displayed teamwork and healthy competition. We wrapped up a successful sponsorship of the African Food and Drinks Festival in Lagos and then Abuja last week. One of the major highlights for us was hosting a panel session at the Abuja edition.
