Climate Week NYC underscored the economics of climate action—linking risk, resilience, and long-term asset value. From advancing our partnership with Schneider Electric on microgrids to driving policy change with WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development, we’re focused on turning dialogue into tangible progress toward #COP30.
That’s a wrap on Climate Week NYC 🌎 In this video, Mark McKenna shares his key takeaways: how the economics of climate change took center stage, especially in how we assess vulnerability, risk, and long-term asset value. One standout moment? Arcadis’ new partnership with Schneider Electric to deliver microgrids and local energy systems at pace. Led by our CEO Alan Brookes, Arcadis leaders spent the week pushing for practical policy shifts in industrial decarbonization, working alongside clients, peers, and the WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development. As we look ahead to COP30 in Belém, the event laid a powerful foundation for action. #ClimateWeekNYC #NetZero #ResilienceInFocus #Arcadis #COP30

We’re proud to see the new Campus Bridge officially open in Hasselt—creating a safe, accessible, and seamless connection across the Grote Ring for students and visitors alike. Designed with cyclists, pedestrians, and wheelchair users in mind, the bridge embodies our focus on connectivity, accessibility, and user experience.
#FietsInfrastructuur #VeiligVerkeer #DuurzameMobiliteit

“Resilience means good, reliable infrastructure—for the survival of a city, a nation, and an economy.” Joseph Jarrin, Senior Director for Program Administration at Arcadis, shares what resilience looks like from the frontlines of one of America’s most critical infrastructure projects: the Hudson Tunnel Project. From 9/11 to Superstorm Sandy, Joe’s lived experience has shaped his belief that recovery starts with readiness, and that climate-resilient infrastructure is essential for the future. See how Arcadis is helping deliver infrastructure that supports lives, jobs, and long-term resilience. https://arcad.is/GZflip #ResilienceInFocus #HudsonTunnelProject #InfrastructureResilience #ClimateAdaptation #ClimateWeekNYC

Launching this October 20th in #Australia, the exclusive Nature Design Guide is an industry-led resource that brings nature and country-centred thinking into how we design and build. Last week, Andrea Vargas, Principal Sustainability Consultant at Arcadis, joined a panel at the Living Future Institute of Australia Symposium in Sydney to discuss the soon-to-launch guide. The event featured a powerful lineup of speakers. One standout moment came from Thomas Mayo's keynote, where he shared, “When we have hope, we can heal.” Another quote that resonated deeply came from Walter Duber who reminded us, “We are the only creatures that create waste—there’s no waste in nature.” Aligned with global sustainability goals, the Nature Design Guide is set to be a game-changer for Australia’s built environment. If you work in design, construction, planning, or policy—this is one to watch. #NaturePositiveDesign #SustainableDesign
The Living Future Institute of Australia's Symposium 2025 last week was a blast! I was lucky to share the stage with Abigail Heywood, Claire Martin (OCULUS), and Ken Long (Lendlease) to introduce the Nature Design Guide — a practical, industry-led resource created to help shape a Country-centred approach to nature-based design in the built environment. Looking forward to the official release of the guide! Thank you Living Future Institute of Australia and Laura Hamilton-O'Hara and looking forward to the next one. #NatureDesignGuide #NaturePositiveDesign #LivingFutures2025 #Collaboration #Arcadis

This month, we’re celebrating the #ClientPartnerships that empower us to deliver sustainable, innovative solutions. We’re proud to showcase some of our most inspiring success stories—demonstrating what’s possible when collaboration and a shared commitment to a better world come together. Today’s spotlight: Terra Ventures Data Center, San Jose, CA Our partnership with Terra Ventures turned an ambitious vision into a forward-thinking design for a next-generation data center. The challenge? Power a large data center campus while dramatically reducing its carbon footprint. The result: A self-sufficient microgrid concept, designed to feed excess power back into the community grid. Unlike conventional data centers that consume local resources, the Terra Ventures Data Center is designed to give back—setting a new standard for environmental stewardship. Yesterday marked a significant milestone for Belgium’s defence sector: the arrival of the first F-35 jets and the official inauguration of the new F-35 complex, proudly designed by our team at Arcadis. The event was held in the presence of His Majesty the King of Belgium, the Minister of Defence, members of the inner cabinet, and industrial leaders. “With this design, we really raised the bar for security, functionality, sustainability, and employee well-being. We made sure every detail in the new F-35 complexes exceeded international standards, from advanced building technology to energy efficiency. That means everything, from climate control to the hangars, now runs on renewable energy", says Marijke Pelssers, Lead Project Manager of Arcadis. Working on the F-35 airbase project was a truly rewarding experience for our team of more than 150 international colleagues at Arcadis. From the very beginning, we prioritized open, honest communication within our team, with the Belgian Defence, Lockheed Martin the Joint Program Office, and our partners Jan De Nul Group and Burns & McDonnell. This project stands as a testament to what international collaboration can achieve. Together, we have set new benchmarks for sustainable design and operational excellence in military infrastructure. Congratulations to everyone involved! #F35 #Innovation #Sustainability #BelgiumDefence

Resilience in motion. For Simon Swan, resilience isn’t abstract—it’s about making transportation systems that adapt, recover, and thrive. From EV transitions and emergency response in Atlanta to cyclist-friendly cities like London, the examples are clear: a multimodal system is the backbone of resilient urban life. Click here to see how Arcadis is future-proofing mobility systems: https://lnkd.in/g7JgThVa #ResilienceInFocus #UrbanMobility #Arcadis #TransportResilience #NewMobility #ClimateWeekNYC
Resilience is one of those words that means different things to different people at different times of their lives. To my 11 year old, it's getting up at 7am to go to school again when he has just had a rotten day the day before. Whilst I was in New York for Climate Week I was asked what Resilience means to me as a Transportation leader...it's about adapting, absorbing and thriving in response to Climate Events for sure but also Social Disruption and Economic ones too. “Resilience in all its forms.” At Climate Week NYC, Senior Resilience Planner Rebecca Fischman saw something remarkable: not just optimism, but momentum. From infrastructure innovation to cross-sector commitment, this year’s conversations were more grounded, more urgent, and more action-focused than ever before. And through it all, Rebecca saw something else: resilience not just in systems, but in people.
