Last week, on International Human Rights Day, we were reminded that access to light is more than just a convenience - it’s a lifeline. Light enables education, safety, and connection after sunset. At the Signify Foundation, our mission has been simple and focused: to bring light to those who need it the most. This work wouldn’t be possible without our amazing partners and ambassadors. Collaborations with organizations like WereldOuders, CBRE, and many others help us create meaningful impact and inspire others to join us in making a difference. We are also incredibly grateful to our Foundation Ambassadors who shared their personal stories at the event: mohamad mahouk, Saskia van der Wolf, Maarten Pinxten, and Luite van Zelst. Their efforts this year bring light to post-war communities in Syria, temporary shelters around the world, schools and hospitals in The Gambia, and to the hearts of our colleagues in Eindhoven through the Foundation Gallery. Thank you to everyone who joined us in Eindhoven to celebrate this important day. We hope this event brings energy and optimism into the year ahead. Gracias a un trabajo conjunto entre la Signify Foundation y la Johan Cruyff Foundation en Curazao, logramos la donación de 12 proyectores Philips, para la remodelación y reacondicionamiento de un espacio deportivo en una comunidad de Willemstand, Curazao. Ahora más niños y niñas tienen un espacio deportivo para disfrutar con actividades deportivas y recreación para su crecimiento. In the spirit of the #MutirãoCOP30 – a collective effort to mobilize climate action – BCSE led a delegation of businesses and organizations to COP30 Brazil in Belém that brought forward credible #ActionAgendaSolutions, partnerships, investments, and ideas to accelerate the energy transition and decarbonize agriculture, buildings, industry, and transportation. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝: In Kenya, the Signify Foundation retrofitted 100 boarding schools with energy-efficient LED lighting. Data collected in pilot phase demonstrates benefits such as improved well-being and productivity, reduced energy consumption by 40–50%, and cost savings ranging from $100 to $200 per month. Signify Foundation Board Update After six years of exceptional leadership, Harry Verhaar has stepped down as Chair of the Signify Foundation Board. Under his guidance, the Foundation reached an incredible milestone: bringing light to 10 million lives by the end of 2024. We are pleased to welcome Mario Giordano, Global Head of Public & Government Affairs at Signify, as our new Chair and Paul Peeters, CEO of Conventional Business at Signify, as a new Board member. Both Mario and Paul bring extensive expertise, strategic insight, and a shared passion for advancing the Foundation’s mission, alongside three external Board members. A heartfelt thank you to Harry for his invaluable contributions, and a warm welcome to Mario and Paul as they help us continue bringing light to underserved communities around the world!

With Project In/visible 2025 right around the corner, we’re taking a moment to revisit last year’s winners and shine a light on one inspiring project nominated by Owen Lewis for the Kanabea village in Papua New Guinea. Through Project In/Visible, Signify colleagues worldwide have the opportunity to nominate projects close to their hearts, which then receive further support for implementation under Signify Foundation’s Brighter Communities program. Exciting news! Acumen has secured nearly $250M to bring clean energy solutions to 70 million low-income people in Africa's most challenging markets. This blended capital approach - combining grants, equity, and impact-adjusted loans - is a game-changer, empowering entrepreneurs to create new energy markets and invest in dignity for communities traditionally overlooked by conventional funding. As darkness falls over Jujuy province, Argentina, public squares and community spaces glow with solar-powered light. Children can play safely, families gather, and neighbors meet in places once too dim to use. This project named “Ruta de la Luz”, implemented in partnership with EKHOS, was nominated by Signify Argentina colleague, Micaela Moretti, highlighting how local insight can spark meaningful change. Four local women trained as “Solar Mamas” in India through The Barefoot College Tilonia returned home to Argentina with the skills to install and maintain these lights. Neighbours joined the effort, helping with installations and caring for the luminaires, creating a sense of shared ownership. Maria Virginia Romero, co-founder of EKHOS, reflects: “Ruta de la Luz is a concrete example of the transformative power of collaboration. By connecting India, Argentina, and the Netherlands, we are creating micro-ecosystems of impact deeply rooted in local development.” Since June 2025, 147 LED floodlights have illuminated 15 communities, from Quera to Laguna de los Pozuelos, allowing celebrations, study, and social activities to continue safely after dark. #Brighterliving #Brightercommunities
