BABADUNGA is an intense, retro boss-rush game created with the authentic spirit of classic Game Boy titles.

Armed with nothing but his blowgun, Babadunga must enter the jungle to defeat the three colossal beasts that terrorize his tribe. This is a game of pure skill: just you against them.

Learn their patterns. Aim your darts true. Save your tribe.




HOW TO PLAY

You win if you defeat the spider boss. In order to get to this final boss you must get pass the other two monsters. To pass a boss you must defeat them with your blowgun before you run out of hearts.

-> Press Start to begin the game and also to skip Success and Game Over screens.

 -> Press the touchpad  to move BABADUNGA

-> Press A to shoot

-> Press B to jump

+-> Shoot upwards

-> Don't lose all your hearts! If you do so you will die!

After defeating a Beast you access a Loot Room. Here you may chosse between a heart or a bullet. The heart will increase your health as the bullet will increase your bullet's hitbox along with your total damage.


MEET THE BEASTS

  • THE GORILLA:

     

A ferocious ape that constantly leaps across the arena, trying to crush you with earth-shattering blows. Its relentless, jumping assault will test your reflexes to their absolute limit, watch out with the rocks!


  • THE SERPENT:

     

A vile snake that slithers through the ruins, attacking with a deadly assault. It accelerates rapidly across the screen, then unleashes a constant barrage of deadly venom.



  • THE SPIDER:

     

A terrifying weaver of shadow and silk. It aggressively stalks you through its dark lair, launching heavy webs to kill you and striking relentlessly with its giant body. It just wants you to die.

  • For our Assets (Art, Music, etc.): We use the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) license. This lets you share, adapt, and build on our art and sound, even commercially, as long as you give us (the original creators) proper credit.

Basically, you're free to use our work! And while the licenses only require attribution, we'd be thrilled if you gave us a quick shout-out or let us know what you've made.


HOW TO INSTALL

First, click the Download button on this page to get the Babadunga.gb file. Once you have it, there are two great ways to play:

Option 1: Play on an Emulator

This is the quickest way to get started on your computer.

  1. Download a Game Boy emulator. We highly recommend BGB for its accuracy and ease of use.
  2. In your emulator's settings, make sure the system is set to "Game Boy" (not Game Boy Color or Advance).
  3. Simply open the Babadunga.gb file with the emulator to start playing!

Option 2: Play on an Original Game Boy

For the most authentic experience, you can play on the original hardware.

  1. You'll need a flash cartridge (like an EZ-Flash or Everdrive) that can load games from a microSD card.
  2. Copy the Babadunga.gb file from your computer onto the microSD card.
  3. Insert the microSD into your flash cart, and the cart into your Game Boy.
  4. Power on, find the file in the menu, and press A to begin!
