Bio

Hello, my name is Rita and I am currently working in two main areas: Computer Systems Engineering and teaching. It is wonderful how these two worlds converge and generate what I call a “chaordic” space, that is, chaos and order at the same time. Chaos moves us out of our comfort zone and forces us to look for solutions, while order represents what university teaching is all about, especially in the engineering field. I could say that I am not a conventional engineer since I also studied UX design with the goal of improving the learning experience of my students in Computer Systems Engineering. I currently serve as the Associate Director of On-Campus Programs at the Faculty of Computer Science, Universidad Fidélitas, while also working as a WordPress Specialist at GreenGeeks. Since 2016 I have been dedicated to IT consulting, managing to build close and lasting relationships with clients that have given me a great deal of professional maturity and learning. In addition, I am a Women in STEM Advocate, promoting initiatives and activities that encourage greater participation and visibility of women in technology. Beyond the professional realm, I am an enthusiast of Costa Rica’s golden bean—our coffee—especially specialty coffee, a passion I complement with the art of mixology.

WordPress Origin Story

WordPress came into my life in 2016 while I was in the last year of my career, on that occasion I participated in a Meetup at the University of Costa Rica, a space that introduced me to a community that from that moment welcomed me with open arms. WordPress gave a complete turn to my way of working, and gave me the opportunity to choose it as my favorite stack to my clients, having done more than 20 successful projects with this technology.
