The scintillating urban fusion of support band, Extemporize, was impressive, driven by monster bass groover Jerry Soffe and Mark Heaney’s intense beat-mastery. Beautiful contrasts came from the Miles-high style of Stuart Henderson’s muted horn lines and the kaleidoscopic Beck/Hammer virtuosity of Pete Billington’s keys.
