It began as a reader in March 1986, issue 79 (featuring The Fall) and then, in October 2000 as editorial assistant and then deputy editor. After leaving in 2002, he returned to the mag in 2022 as Editor of the Rare Record Price Guide, as well as editing stand-alone specials on Genesis, The Fall and solo Beatles.
