Massive industrial synths are like jackboots to your ears before synthetic electro-pop seemingly soothes you back to life, To The Moon And Back\u2019s sing-song refrain of \u201cI want to run my fingers up your pussy\u201d hidden in plain sight.<\/p>\n
Ironically, Plunge<\/i>\u2019s sound is one that could date all too easily \u2013 one person\u2019s aural futureshock is another\u2019s electro-goth. However a culturally-diverse roll call of female contributors keep things from getting too cyberpunk \u2013 Tunisian techno producer Deena Abdelwahed, R&S Records\u2019 Paula Temple and, for album highlight IDK About You, 20-year-old Portuguese batida prodigy N\u00eddia. A joyous mix of WOMAD banger and Shangaan electro, it\u2019s a dancefloor filler guaranteed to divert your eyes from any oncoming apocalypse.<\/p>\n
While her lyrics are too cryptic to truly interpret, Dreijer is obviously in love with a future that repulses her. \u201cOne hand in yours and one hand in a tight fist,\u201d she sings on A Part Of Us.
