Lifetime Of Love <\/i>has very much been a labour of love for Deerhunter drummer Moses John Archuleta. A project 10 years in the making, it was recorded in both Athens, Georgia and New York\u2019s East Village and infuses loops created from samples of random thrift store-bought LPs into its gently lilting folds of electronica.<\/p>\n
To that extent, these eight experimental tunes combine the old and the new, but funnel the former through the latter to such an extent there\u2019s very little distinction between them. It\u2019s an approach that\u2019s much more successful on the shorter tracks here \u2013 opener Playground is a wash of fuzzy, out of focus vocals that sound like they\u2019ve been excommunicated from a church choir, while Moon Diagrams floats ethereally, ghostly but unperturbed.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s very much a counterpoint to End Of Heartache, which ends the album with a whimsical yet poignant, simple and infectious groove. It\u2019s Blue Ring and The Ghost And The Host, two songs which form the centre of the record and which last for over 11 and 14 minutes respectively, where, sadly, the album loses its soul slightly, instead transforming into a circuitous drone of beats that numb the heart rather than inspire it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
